Smooth Day

I was very shocked when I got ready to check out at Walmart. They had several lines open. . Of course Rural King had to make up for that. . But it wasn't too bad. I just didn't buy anything at Goodwill. Rural King did have the suet blocks on sale today. Plus I got new bolt cutters. I was going to get those at Walmart but couldn't find them. I was in the right aisle. Found them easy at Rural King. Probably better made too. I felt lazy when I got home so I didn't mess with my flowers. I will get them done over the weekend. I didn't have to water too much today. Just a few that are in the greenhouse. I will try to finish the project I am working on for someone. I hope to take it tomorrow. Then I will get back to my other project. I hope they come out cute. Hope you had a good day.

They actually took out some of the self-checkouts at our Walmart. I think they are starting to realize the theft there. Also more checkout lines are opening at ours. Instead of 2, we are seeing 3-5 now.

Petty theft was/is an issue here too. They now a sort of barrier to try to stop those trying to skip out without paying.

I read they are cutting back on them. But this store still had some open. It does make theft easier

@wolfgirl569 They have self checkout at both ends in this store. One day they closed the side near groceries and people were all getting in checkout lines complaining about ALL of the self checkouts being closed. When I left, I noticed the other end was open

You think Wally World is realizing that they’re losing more than product because of the self-checkout lines? I saw a very truthful post on Facebook the other day that said Walmart shouldn’t think they’re “too big to fail,” and had a picture of an old Sears store.

@wolfgirl569 — our Meijer and Lowe’s have them as well. They also have plenty of manned checkout lanes, which is something Walmart has been sorely lacking.

@FourWalls That was why yesterday was such a nice surprise. Ours usually only have a couple open

They might be. But Meijer and Lowe's have the self checkout lanes here. They are all trying them

I sometimes find that other stores offer more what I want than Wal Mart, where they constantly rearrange. Glad you found your bolt cutters at Rural King. It sounds like a good, solid, farm store.

I hate how most stores rearrange after I learn where everything is. It is a good store

Sounds like a nice day. I don't remember the last time I was in Walmart. Probably years.

If Rural King just opened, it's actually normal for Walmart to lose some customers because the customers would really love to go for something new. Give it a few days or weeks, people would return shopping at Walmart, some may just even go to Walmart if something can't be found at Rural King and vice versa. Sometimes I do enjoy shopping at a certain place when something new opens near it because I would end up having the place all to myself. No more bumping and the need to wait in long lines.

They are 2 different stores. Rural King is mostly a farm store.
