Butter Beans are so nice in appearance. Can someone tell about them-their specialties and a few dishes that can be prepared with them?

The best way to eat butter beans is to cook them with a small piece of ham or bacon, then serve them in a bowl. Cornbread, pickles, cottage cheese, spinach, all go well with them.

I didn't mean all those things go well at the same time! (I wish we could edit our responses here)

Thank you so much for the tips. You seem to be using Butter Beans (BB) quite a lot. Then, please also let me know what is special about the? Are they rich in proteins, like Soybeans? The taste of BB suggests that it is like Soybeans and therefore, may be containing lot of proteins.

All beans and legumes (dried peas, lentils, etc.) are high in protein, but it's not a complete protein without a complementary grain or vegetable. Corn bread serves that purpose well. Beans also have a lot of fiber, as well as B vitamins, I believe. Butter beans have a component that lifts the mood, so if you're ever grouchy or depressed, have a bowl of them! :)

I have never used butter beans in a dish before. I have just warmed them up and ate them as is. I'll be interested to see peoples recipes for them.

I could not understand how you are using Butter Beans (BB). You said you are warming them. Are you warming them without soaking in water overnight? Or, are you roasting them? Please do give details of your process. So far only one response has come that tells how to prepare dishes using BB. Did you try any of them?
