They say the number 7 is "good luck." So, lets end my favorite good-bad songs on a "Good Note." As Joe Walsh so aptly put it in song, "Life's Been Good," and I think I've found some not only good, but great tunes to finish off this series... Your comments, musings, and your own favorite "good or bad" titled songs or trivia always welcome... LIFE'S BEEN GOOD- JOE WALSH (1978) -Got to like a song that poke's fun at the rock star lifestyle. And that's what Joe does with this satirical take on the spoiled life of a successful musician. Walsh can definitely relate to his track and rock stardom having written hit songs as a member of the James Gang, as a solo artist, and with The Eagles. ***Do you enjoy any of Joe Walsh's songs? "Rocky Mountain Way" and "Funk #49" are good ones. TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! Name this week's tune, artist or facts: 1. "Another name" for an "automobile" is a ____(s) And that's the name of this band. The tune's title is a take on the phrase "live life to the fullest" or "(Let the) Good ___________. This song is actually the artist's sarcastic take on a rock star's fun life. This "new wave" Boston band had some very popular songs in the late 70's like "My Best Friend's Girl," "Let's Go," and "Just What I Needed." -Do you know the name of this band and their good-titled song? 2. Were going all the way back to 1965 for this "Oldie but Goodie" titled song by my favorite "Hoboken born, New Jersey crooner." This "Frankie" is not Frankie Valli, who is also from the same state, but instead, the "leader of the Rat Pack." The song title is a "well-known phrase" used when "describing vintage wines." As in "it was a ............" In the song the singer compares looking fondly "back in time" of his memories and comparing it to how wine tastes better with age. This Italian singer became a teen idol to his "bobby soxer" fans in the 1940's. -Do you know the name of this singer and his good-titled song? 3. The song "Only the Good Die Young" was written about a "Catholic girl" the artist knew in high school named "Virginia," who was saving herself for marriage. I'm sure the artist didn't mean this song title literally, or did he? In the song he is trying to seduce her by claiming "heaven ain't better for those who wait, the sinners have much more fun." Anyway, this "piano man" had a lot of fun in his musical career and social life, dating many models and even marrying one named "Christie Brinkley." -Do you know the name of this artist? Hoping your answers are as "good as gold" when solving these artists and songs. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as the band Chicago would say, you can "Call on Me." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition in the near future. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com
