Yesterday we took a little road trip to Lafayette, LA to attend my oldest grandson's 2024 Graduates Class Ring Ceremony.
My grandson, Rylan, had opted for a watch instead of a ring. He said he would never wear it. So his dad gave him his class ring for the ceremony and he wore his new watch.
The ceremony was nice and only took about 45 minutes for all of the graduates to get their rings. About half of the boys opted for watches vs. rings.
After the ceremony a good many and their families went to Olive Garden for dinner. The kids planned this, but they failed to mention to the hostess to please seat them all in the same area. They still had fun and played little tricks on each other all through dinner. Cell phones went missing, as did some bread sticks since some tables were served before others. The funniest though was how my grandson got "set up" and all the waitresses and waiters appeared to sing "Happy Birthday." to him. His friends all videoed the event and his mother and little sister got to see the video since they went to the restroom at the wrong time.
It was a fun night!

We didn't have a ring ceremony but then there were 1,000 kids in my graduating class. Sounds like a fun night. Have a good day.

@LindaOHio I'm sorry!!
It is looking like a very busy week here. Worked at boutique Monday, trip to Jackson scheduled for today is canceled, got to do a flea market run since I did not this weekend, and got to get on finding new space for antique store booth.

I'm glad you'll have that memory. I wish we had things like that when I was in school. Because I missed prom my senior year, I never got my senior year gift.

@kareng I think it was lack of transportation or something as to why I missed mine. My father's health had been on the decline. He actually got a feaver on my graduation day, and passed a month after I graduated high school.

@kaylachan I'm sorry! You were very young to lose a father! My first cousins that I grew up with next door lost their dad at around age 11, and 8. That was hard for all of us! Big hugs!
