Trash, Rummage and Estate Sales Oh My!

I have been watching this gal on YouTube on her channel Paper and Moose. She is from New Jersey and she goes to rummage sales, estate sales, flea markets and even trashes through old houses that have been sold and a friend of hers cleans them out. She goes through basements that have been flooded and there is mold, mice, and spiders all around. She also goes through people's trash left out by the side of the road. Sometimes her videos make me gag when she talks about the mold odor and seeing a mouse scurry up an electrical wire. Ick! I don't think I could do it. She recently quit the full-time job she had as a records keeper in a large company to do this full-time. Ugh! I tell ya I couldn't do it. It shows online that she makes $7,581 monthly and $90,974 annually. That's over 4xs the amount I make in a year. But still, I couldn't do it. What are your thoughts?

My anxiety would not let me trample through such places. However, here in our neck of the woods people put out things they do not need nicely on the side of the roads for anyone to pick it up and use it. Now if I had a friend with a car and we could drive all over the city say twice a week and set up garage sales afterward we probably would not make near as much but still it would bring in some income, I just don't have the opportunity,

What I see now that I am retired is that the lady does not have a pension fund from all that not so always fun work. My hubby and I are doing better due to his pension helping our social security checks.

I know how that is. I only worked at my last job for 5 years and got a pension. I feel very fortunate.

@celticeagle Hubby's social work was for the state. He was there just over twenty years so his pension is pretty nice.

There are many things I could not do but other people like. I donĀ“t even like to go camping because there are bugs.

@celticeagle This summer I had ants inside my house for the first time in years. I was in a permanent state of shock.

My mother is a painter and she does bring home some stuff she has found in abandoned apartments. But she couldn't do what you described. She can't stand mold and critters.

I don't want to deal with mold and mice. We get enough mice in the house during the winter.
