This (if it shows) is the B and B, or whatever it's called, that I stayed at in Chicago. There were seven of us, all graduates of University High School, on the South Side of Chicago.
This building is on 51st Street, two blocks West of Ellis Avenue. That was a dicey place to be when I was in High School. But it's fairly safe now.
In front of that building is a rock. I took my smoke breaks sitting on that rock. Toward the street from that rock, and slightly to the West (left, from my perspective), is a bus stop.
I was a bit of a street kid when I was growing up. I wasn't afraid to talk to people. I was never successfully mugged by anyone who didn't have a gun. I enjoyed the streets of Chicago!
At the bus stop near my smoking rock, I decided to advertise my music. I was feeling cocky.
I walked up to the two black ladies at the bus stop and said, "Hi there. I am advertising...myself!" I could tell they were scared, but not too scared.
I said, "I grew up here and I am at a high school reunion. I am a blues musician influenced by my time in Chicago. Here's my card. That's my name. If you listen to my latest tune, please leave a silly comment "
By then, they could tell I was not a a) street person; b) schizophrenic; c) mugger; d) vacuum sales person.
"Is that your kitty?"
"You found it! That's my kitty! I hope you leave me a silly comment. I will let you get back to your conversation now."
Laughter and waves goodbye.
I'll attach that music video. It's still my latest, as I have not generated anything new for Vanny to destroy...I mean...enhance...with her slides recently..
I hope those ladies got a kick out of our interaction. And that they enjoyed the tune. Check the comments. They actually DID leave one!

Glad you had such a good time in Chicago. I know how it feels to return to your hometown after being away for a long time, For at least one more time I would love to see NYC.

@TheHorse Sure if I had the cash but I have a very tight budget and with no place to stay in the city it would be way too expensive,

Now you should immortalize those ladies by writing song called, "Random Stranger In Chicago."
Here's an idea to get you started:
Chorus) Oh, random stranger, tell me your story, Did you leave your heart on a midnight train? Are you chasing dreams or escaping glory? In this city of shadows, what do you gain?
(Verse 2) She spoke of love lost on the Lakeshore Drive, A ballad of heartache that kept her alive, Her fingers traced memories on the bar counter, As the bartender poured another amber.
