I had hoped to get a lot more done outside today, especially in the garden. I got my hubby out after we had lunch and it wasn't long before he had a blood sugar crash. This has been happening a lot lately right after he eats and has any kind of activity. His insulin was reduced at last doctor visit but I think it is time to go down again.
I got started out in the garden early this morning and did some weeding and planted some turnip greens. I also did some weeding and worked a little on trench to help rows drain off.
Hubby came in and ate some yogurt and drank some orange juice to get his numbers back up. He is now back outside and one the tractor. He is re-hilling several rows in the garden where nothing is planted --yet!
I came inside for a little rest and water break. Heading back out now!
Do you have a vegetable garden planted yet for Spring/Summer?

Turnip greens sure sound good. The soil sure looks nice. and healthy. I wish we could have a garden here.

He just went and got a new weekly insulin to replace the one that was not available in our area anymore. It seems to be working better than the other one he was on, which is good. He just has to lower daily insulin shots in morning and night to adjust. This has to be done slowly and he uses his doctor's guidelines for this. Otherwise, he has to listen to me nag!!!

@LadyDuck Yes, this one will argue with me that he isn't hungry when his sugar drops in the 80's. It's really bad when it happens in the wee hours of the morning when he is in a deep sleep. He argues, refuses to get up or sit up in bed or tell me what he wants. I just fix something on those nights and tell him to eat.

@kareng Green beans mostly as they stay high at the auction. Maybe some pumpkins and gourds too.

You have a big garden. I'm in the inbetween garden spot right now. I've planted some Spring stuff like a few onions and some broccoli as I wait for the final night frost to quit. A friend told me to not plant summer garden stuff until after Mother's Day. But stuff like the apple trees are blooming, the raspberries and strawberries are green, the grape start is about to pop leaves and the perennial geraniums are green.

I have already picked a mess of collard greens and cooked them. They were GOOD! Also, noticed yesterday that we have another round of picking to do on them! My hubby's friends gave us those plants and my hubby does not eat collard greens. This should be fun...I'll get plenty of fresh green vegetables, as I also have turnip greens planted!
