That Slow Fade

Casting Crowns, a Christian band, sings a song entitled "Slow Fade". The lyrics to the chorus are as follows: "It's a slow fade when you give yourself away It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid When you give yourself away People never crumble in a day It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade" These lyrics are absolutely true. No one just wakes up and decides to be a cheater. No one, on the spur of the moment, decides they want to be racist. No one, for no reason, decides it is a good idea to perpetrate violence. No one randomly decides being an immoral being is beneficial and desirable. We are all born with a sin nature. But for sin to grow and control us, one must nurture that sin nature. One must choose to, continually, sin. It is easy to do without the Holy Spirit guiding us. The only way to escape the slavery of sin is to repent of our sins and surrender to Jesus. The Holy Spirit will then guide us and we will be slaves to Christ if we are truly saved. So, it is our choice: Allow the slow fade of sin to grow and control more of our thoughts until we sink into delusions, perversions, and complete self-centeredness; or we can do things God's way and allow the Holy Spirit to control us and live and love through us.
