Do you have any smart appliances?

So far, Thank God my fridge is hanging in there..but if I have to get another one, I really want a smart fridge. It would be nice for a fridge to tell me what I am out of. Right now, other than the TV, Alexa and a smart plug, I have none. The problem is the space allocated for the refrigerator here is not huge. I am not sure it could accommodate a large size fridge which I assume smart fridges are..but I guess we will cross that bridge when and if we come to it.

NO, I do not have any smart appliances. I prefer to decide myself what has to be replaced in the fridge.

@LadyDuck Really anything that connects to the internet can be "hacked" if that is what you are concerned about

@akalinus Everything considered "smart" causes more problems than help. I do not want appliances that connect to the Internet.

I agree with you. You can look in there and tell you need eggs or butter. I think some things should be only for you to know.

No. My TV isn’t even all that “smart.” Just the iPhone and my Ring camera/doorbell that’s part of my security system.

My TV is pretty smart. Except the Alexa rarely pops up the right thing.

@snowy22315 — I don’t have that. My smart system is AppleTV, and I don’t have a newer version with voice commands.

No, I don't have any smart appliances, but I do have energy smart ones, which makes alot more sense to me as it cuts down on the power useage.

I don't have any smart appliances but one day I'd like to get a smart thermostat. I do have Alexa and smart plugs like you do.

I think a smart thermostat can save money..and it would be good if you could change it away from home with an app.

I don't want a smart refrigerator. I just want one that keeps food cold or frozen. Does the smart refrigerator report to the government what you have in there?

@akalinus That's why it's a joke. The only thing they ever try to regulate in certain places are huge sodas. But it is a bridge too far that your own personal fridge is gonna come under scrutiny. No one is that interested in what ,our fridge contains.. Like when certain states made homosexuality illegal .No one was bopping around looking in people's bedrooms. It's crazy to think that..like freaking Trump saying pregnant women can be monitored...Yeah right..like that is going to happen.

@snowy22315 I have seen those jokes where a computer in the pizza place won't let you buy one because they have too much butter and starchy stuff.

@akalinus That could happen, but the electric could go down too. We have to take some risks in life. That is how I look at it.

@snowy22315 That is true but I would rather have a dumb refrigerator. I do not trust smart things very much.

We don't need them. What happens when the internet goes down? Our smart appliances would become dumb.

Nope. Nothing smart here. A couple of Christmas's ago we bought a new French Door fridge, I think its called. The freezer is on the bottom. Easier for us. But we opted to not go smart.

They could break. I don't know what the lifespan of them are. Usually the more tech the more that can go wrong.

It's great to hear that your fridge is still chugging along, but the idea of upgrading to a smart fridge sounds intriguing, doesn't it? Having a fridge that can keep track of what you need would definitely make grocery shopping a breeze. Sure, space might be a bit tight for a larger smart fridge, but who knows what the future holds? Maybe there's a compact yet super-smart option out there waiting for you. It's all about staying open to possibilities and embracing the convenience technology has to offer. Here's to a fridge that's not just cool, but smart too!
