50-Year-Old Songs: Dark Horse / myLot

Happy Thurby to Louisville! Now that the Kentucky Derby weekend is here I can start for home. Lots to still tell you about, not to mention the fact that we have some great music from 1974 to enjoy. I looked at the list, and this could be a “top 10 tie” list for most of the month! Here’s another tune that’s 50 years old now. Dark Horse - George Harrison Appropriate for Derby time: a song with a title related to horse racing.

Oh, no, that isn’t why I picked it. This is one of my favorite George Harrison solo songs. As I say, this isn’t intended to make you feel old; however, if this does make your bones creak to realize that ex-Beatles’ “classic albums” are now 50 years old, wait until I get to the sixty-year-old list! That was a great Kentucky Derby race. 1-2-3 about 1 length apart! And a Dark Horse won in Mystik Dan at 18-1. That LP got mixed reviews, but this tune was a bright spot on the album.
