11 May - What I'm Thankful for Today and Happy Mother's Day

Good afternoon from sunny to partly cloudy Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. It's currently 62 F. There's a bit of a cool breeze out there. It's been a good day. I like days when nothing is required. Though I found out I could have been elsewhere today. But such is not the case. There's a book signing up in Door County I wasn't notified about and learned about on Tuesday night. And they have my books in their bookstore. I wonder why I was overlooked. Oh well. Next time. However, today has been good. I'm thankful for getting my steps this morning with a walk on the trail. I didn't get them all, or go on as much as the trail as I hoped, but at least I got most of my steps. I got the rest while watching a movie. I'm thankful for the work I did on Wilderness Cry. It's coming along slowly. I'm thankful for the movie I watched. With work on In the Hands of Mighty Men, I needed to make certain the action and dialogue were feasible. So, I watched a multi Oscar winning movie - The Godfather. I realized I never saw it before. I'd seen scenes, but not the entire movie. I can understand why it got so many Oscars. From watching it, I would say my book is good. I got the era well represented. I'm also thankful for my children. All of them and my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I know we don't all see eye to eye, and most of them don't live near me, but it doesn't make my love for them any less. My daughter and granddaughter are in Texas with my great-grandchildren. I have one grandson in Illinois and another in Nashville, TN. My youngest son and grandson are here, though I haven't seen my grandson in a while. I'm estranged from my oldest, but I still love him and his children. One of his children lives across the state. She's twenty. The last picture I have of her was when she was 4. She's been adopted out of the family, but I still count her my granddaughter. Yes, we're a dysfunctional family, but it doesn't mean the love isn't there. For all of you mothers, I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day. Thanks for reading. What are you thankful for today? The picture is my son and grandson taken at the beginning of the pandemic at church.

Thank you for sharing your day and reflections with us. It sounds like you've had a mix of emotions and experiences, but ultimately, there's much to be thankful for. It's great to hear that you were able to enjoy a walk on the trail and make progress on your writing projects. Taking time for self-care and pursuing your passions are important aspects of living a fulfilling life. Watching classic movies like "The Godfather" can be a captivating experience, and it's interesting to hear how it influenced your perspective on your own work. Drawing inspiration from well-crafted storytelling and capturing the essence of a particular era in your writing is a testament to your creativity and dedication as an author. Your love and appreciation for your family shine through in your words, despite the challenges and complexities that come with familial relationships. Family dynamics can be complicated, but the bond of love endures through it all. On this Mother's Day, it's heartwarming to see your well-wishes extended to all mothers. May they be surrounded by love and joy today. As for what I'm thankful for today, I'm grateful for the opportunity to connect with you and others, to share stories and experiences, and to learn from each other. Each interaction brings new perspectives and insights, enriching our lives in unexpected ways. Thank you for sharing your story and for being a part of this community. Wishing you continued blessings and moments of gratitude.

I hope yu have a good mother's day, too. I'm thankful for a plesent Saturday. George continues to surprise me. He managed to pull the calandar down and flip to the next month. 11 days late, but he did it. He's also working on remembering to cross out the day. It was a habit he'd been doing for a long time now. So he's slowly getting into the routine.

Love goes a long way, that’s for sure. Happy Mother’s Day to you. I’m thankful although my mom is gone, I had her in the first place. And I’m thankful my dad found a good Christian lady to give me a godly stepmom too.
