Well Boy Howdy! The Northern Lights were visible in the San Francisco Bay Area last night! So why am I posting a photo of my horse?

I just read an article from a local news source. Yeppers, folks could see the Northern Lights in the Bay Area last night. Maybe I'll go out searching for them tonight. The last time I saw the Northern lights was (I think) here in California. It was another period of solar activity. I went to visit my horse that night, as there is little "light pollution" where she lived. Dang, I miss that horse. She lived to be 35. My relationship with her may have been the best of my life. But I have to be honest: She could give a rat's ass about what music I was listening to. And she had no interest in the Northern Lights, nor was she interested in a comet we "watched together." There are no "soul mates." All of that said, will you try to see the Northern Lights tonight?

I went out several times during the night. They were there, very faint and only white. Now I put an App in my phone that is supposed to alert me. So maybe I'll get to see them.

I may take an evening"nap" and go trolling in horse country (now mostly McMansions) at 2 AM. We'll see.

@noni1959 I stayed home last night. Went out to look at 1 AM but there was too much ambient light. Maybe tonight. We'll see how my energy holds up.

It's not a matter of longitude. It's a matter of latitude. You may be too far South to see the Northern Lights.

I may peak out and see if I can see them. I heard yesterday they were visible in Arkansas, so maybe--just maybe I will get lucky!!

@TheHorse Total bust here with the lights with cloudy skies followed by heavy rain. Oh well, I tried. Not very likely here though, but will check again soon!

It sounds like you had a special bond with your horse, and those memories must hold a lot of meaning for you. Animals have a unique way of impacting our lives, often providing companionship and solace in ways that humans sometimes can't. While they may not share our interests in music or celestial phenomena like the Northern Lights, their presence and connection with us can be deeply fulfilling in its own right. As for seeing the Northern Lights tonight, it could be a magical experience if you decide to go out searching for them. Witnessing the aurora borealis is always awe-inspiring and can leave a lasting impression. If the conditions are right and you're up for an adventure, it might be worth trying to catch a glimpse of this natural wonder. Who knows, you might create new memories under the shimmering lights of the night sky.

@TheHorse Even though you didn't see them this time, it's great that you tried. Maybe a little countryside adventure could be a fun future plan!

I checked from my balcony but didn't see anything. I'd probably have to drive out into the countryside to see them.

It's fascinating how the Northern Lights can captivate our attention, isn't it? Your reminiscence about your horse brought a mix of nostalgia and honesty. It sounds like she was a special companion in your life, even if she wasn't into music or celestial spectacles. As for me, I might just join you in seeking out the Northern Lights tonight, through some live stream obviously.. There's something magical about chasing those shimmering colors across the night sky.

Magic 8 ball answers: ? Reply hazy, try again ? Ask again later ? Better not tell you now ? Cannot predict now ? Concentrate and ask again ? Don't count on it ? My reply is no ? My sources say no ? Outlook not so good ? Very doubtful

And here I am, I thought you and I were soul mates...sigh...except that I was a cat, and you were a mouse...that kinda soul mates...sigh...some people have to hide their fears... I am kinda glad you think of Amber. They have many other ways to compensate us. We don't mind feeding them, but when we feed another person, we think..why this two legged creature is not working. LOL

@TheHorse Daily? For years? LOL Friend is fine. I think. Strangers..not. I don't think I would be fine feeding my neighbor. If my househelp was not working, I would not feed her either.

Our son sent us photos of the lights from Ireland. He had to leave the camera on time exposure to get the photos he did but they did look nice.

I went out to look last night (just in my neighborhood). I definitely saw a bit of a flicker, but nothing like the amazing pictures that my friends posted. Too much light pollution where I live, I guess, and also not that clear out.

One of my dreams is to live in a farm very soon and of course, that includes having a horse and some domesticated animals.
