I know it's not my fault, but it felt like it is

One day, a friend contacted me for a favor. She asked me to buy a complete set of machine for asthma for her baby. This friend of mine gave birth to pre-mature fraternal twins. One of the twins died. The other was fighting for her life. In order to help the other baby survive, she needed to have that complete set of machine. The City that she was living in didn't have all the necessary equipment for the baby's survival. I immediately bought the machine and went to their City that took more than 8 hours of a bus trip. However, on the way there, the baby died. She explained to me what happened. I understood that the baby was already at the edge of her life. I understood that even if the baby survive, she will need to have all the necessary medical equipment in order for her to survive. I know that it's not my fault that the baby didn't survive, but it felt like I am partly at fault because I was too late to arrive at their City with the complete set of asthma machine.

You should absolutely not feel guilty for what happened. It is very sad, but it's not your fault.

I doubt your friend blames you, it's heartbreaking definitely, and it says a lot about your compassionate heart that you feel so deeply. My hope is that you find peace of mind. My heart goes out to your friend as well.

Thank you so much for this. I really do always remind myself that everything that happened was really beyond my control.

It is not your responsibility to provide medical equitment for your friend. If the hospitalis unequpit then they are the ones who should've gotten it.

What I could understand is that it is not your fault. You've tried your best for your friend and the baby One thing I've learn a lesson in my life is that no matter how much you tried the one who is going to stay or live will live.
