Well, no…it’s the Goodyear Blimp. If you don’t watch the news at all here in town, all you need to do is look up to notice that there’s a big event going on. Two weeks ago this thing was probably over my house (I saw “probably” because I wasn’t here until later in the afternoon, then I promptly went inside and went to sleep until after the Derby). Now it’s flying high over Valhalla Golf Course, where the PGA Championship is being held. (Or as Led Zep sang, “Valhalla, I am coming.”) The PGA Championship is going on this weekend. We’re supposed to have rain both Friday and Saturday, but hopefully it won’t be of the “gullywasher” variety or thunderstorms. (Golf and lightning don’t go well together, just ask former golfer Lee Trevino: he’s been hit by lightning three times. And yes, he’s still alive.) I took this shot of the blimp when I was coming out of Chuy’s after lunch today. It went on its merry way, and I went on a two-mile walk. It’s nice to see such an iconic thing like the Goodyear Blimp “relatively” up close. It’s great that they’re here, coving one of the biggest events in golf as it’s played in our back yard. Here’s the Led Zep song that references Valhalla:

I did not that know that golfer has been struck by lightning three times since I know him over his nickname "Merry Mex".

I always loved watching Lee play. He was incredibly colorful. BTW, did you have any damage from those storms last night?

@FourWalls The only damage in my area was minor since there was no electricity blackouts just heavy rainfall.

Oh, we see the blimp all the time during the Derby. (Except me, I’m either not in town or inside, asleep. )

Led Zepplin is always welcome in my book. They created some of the neatest musical rifts ever but you could tell how flawed they were. Vahalla sounds right, but Nordic people will love this. I think people get pissed when I give that opinion. I think they had a good time, a bit to good of a time to understand properly but don't we all do that. Some times you punching at wrong punching bag. Led Zeppelin just bringing it to your attention. Its so funny how music changed, No balls in play here?

@FourWalls We all get mixed up, but our work will always tell who we are. For real, this only music that puts me in a trance. Its neat but scary.

I know. I see it a million times but it’s still so iconic that I had to stop and take a picture of it.

Yes, I think they learned from the Hindenburg not to try the trans-Atlantic thing.

@FourWalls Wrong! I have seen it in the sky of Monte Carlo during the F1 car race. We moved here from Monte Carlo 18 years ago.

I like blimps, too…I’ve lost 55 pounds but I’m still a blimp. I’d like to go to the hangar and see it, but after that Hindenburg thing I’d never get on one.

@FourWalls You are not a blimp. I'M a blimp. I am afraid of heights; so I wouldn't ride on one.

The past few nights we have had rain, but then clear days. I will hope it is dry tonight so I can mow tomorrow. I am treating myself to laziness right now.

Living around “big events” (the Daytona 500, the Kentucky Derby, etc.) I’ve seen a few in my day as well.

I don't believe Led Zeppelin were referencing a golf course! In fact I can't believe anyone would name a golf course 'Valhalla'! Were they hoping to spend the afterlife there?

A lot of golfers I know would love for eternity on a course.
