A 10-year-old boy, Sammy Teusch, committed suicide on May 8 over horrific bullying at his school. As the small casket was carried out after the funeral last Tuesday 100 bikers(with the Iron Sharpens Iron Motorcycle Ministry) who volunteered as escorts for the mourning family, revved their motorcycles out of respect. He was bullied because he wore glasses and because his teeth were pronounced. It is a sad day on Earth when a small boy commits suicide because he can no longer withstand the bullying he goes through at school. Among the incidents was when he was beaten up on the bus and his glasses were broken. The School, Greenfield Intermediate School, did nothing and when the representative was interviewed his only response was that the family hadn't filled out a bullying form. The family had called the school over 20 times and was constantly talking to counselors and other school administrators about the ongoing abuse. Pictures are courtesy of The New York Post.

There should be strict law against bullying, one that gravely punishes the school as an institution, its president or its officer-in-charge, and the family of the bully. No one, even a child, deserves to be treated horribly.

That's terrible! I'm so sorry the family suffered such a loss because the school wouldn't do anything to stop the bullying.

This is a disgusting situation since the school didn't do anything. Kids are so cruel these days. Bullying was almost non-existent when I was in school.

I am amazed at the enormous amount of "FORMS" people need to fill out for things like this. What happened to stepping in, getting names and calling parents in and having a counseling session? What happened to teaching children to appreciate and understand differences in others? Some of my best friends in school were others that were "different" than the norm. I stood up for them and battled a lot of other students. I went to the office a LOT and nailed them with what's wrong with you? Why can't you do your jobs and teach appreciation of those who are different???? A person can only take so much torment and harassment, and unfortunately-BULLYING!

Why are the kids who are bullied made to seem like the problem? The troublemakers need to be made accountable.

@BearArtistLady .......They have none of them been brought well at all. It is shameful and I thing the school officials should be charged with negligence. I had the poor luck of being made to set by a troublemaker by my teacher in the 4th grade. The girl poked me in the arm with a pencil and I have the mark to this day. The teacher said she thought I would have a good influence on her. Yah, right.

@celticeagle I wonder if ANYONE realized that maybe the people who are doing the bullying are thinking that they are so much better than everyone else that no one can possibly do anything to them about their participation in the bullying? The people (I use the term loosely, bullies don't fit into the category of "people" as they don't care about anything!) only care about themselves and what they want and what they think. I had a girl that bullied me in secondary school. I was sent to the office after she hit me and cut my lip. They wanted to know who she was and I wouldn't tell the school officials her name. I was finally released to go back to class (she was in that one too) and she stopped me and snarled "I bet you told on me!!!" I looked at her and simply said "NO!" and walked off. She stopped me and asked "Why not????" I told her that it wasn't worth what they would do to her, that she would probably be expelled and that would make things worse. She thought it over and stopped me, shook my hand and we became good friends and she stopped bullying people. Some of them need to be taught that people are different and they have a right to be different and not be tormented because of it.

This is heartbreaking! Such a young age to lose one's life. No child should ever feel so hopeless that they see no way out but to end their own life. It's a tragic reminder of the devastating impact of bullying and the urgent need for schools to take decisive action to protect their students. My heart goes out to Sammy's family and all those affected by this senseless loss.
