The other day i started a discussion about people who do not have kids but always tell parents how to raise their kids. Well this is the kind of thing I was talking about. http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,11000-2007210878,00.html She does not have any kids but claims to be an expert on children. She says she has all babies sleeping through the night in a couple weeks, including premature babies. That is so incredibly dangerous to have a premature baby sleeping all night when they NEED to be eating more often in order to grow and thrive. And she says parents should limit cuddle time because it makes them crave attention. She must have never taken a single day to learn about babies, it is their nature to crave attention. Not something to be denied. There have been so many studies showing that babies who are left alone and not held suffer failure to thrive while babies who are held and carried more often grow better. That's why so many big hospitals hire women to come in and hold and cuddle the babies when the parents are not able to do so. She also starts babies on solids at 17 weeks and says she does not care what the government says, which goes against solid medical advice. This is the kind of thing I was talking about. A person with no children of her own claiming to be an expert and handing out illogical and dangerous advice. She expects babies to be able to fit the adult's needs and doesn't think at all that it is supposed to be the other way, we are supposed to care for and meet our baby's needs. Just horrible!

blech! I couldn't even read the whole article, it makes me sick to my stomach! Babies need to eat more than 4 hours-that is just crazy! Horrible horrible woman and I can't believe mothers would go against their instincts (most mothers I know feed their children when hungry) to listen to this crap!

I wished I wouldn't have read that article. My heart breaks to think of the children exposed to this woman. It seems she is having trouble telling the difference between raising farm animals and babies. What disturbs me the most is parents paying her for her advise. I have 5 children. My 20 year old son still gives me big "MOMMY" hugs! My 2 1/2 old daughter will crawl into bed with us in the middle of the night. She doesn't do it often! GRRRRRRR, the article had me fuming! Put the baby outside to sleep. Bonding is for feeding and bathing.
