Where do you get prepaid credit cards?

Yesterday while reading the responses to one of my discussions someone suggested I get a prepaid credit card.
I thought I could get it a Walmart like the phone cards but they don't have them.
I realize I sound like a real dummy but I don't know where to go to get one.
Can anyone advise me as to where to get one.Also have you any credit card stories to tell?
Has having one worked out well for you?When I use the amount can I just call to add to it?
Are there any other ways to get one without connecting to my bank?

I've gotten a couple at my local bank. The one I used was Commerce Bank, but I'm sure other banks have them too.
I didn't use it myself, it was actually for a gift, but it was very simple to do. I'm pretty sure you can add to it too.

Months ago, I was contemplating to get a prepaid credit card. I know of one, Virtual Credit Card. I plan to use it purely for internet only. The credit company emailed me that I can placed my deposit at any Western Union Bank. But they charged a high fee and there should be minimum amount left. I decided not to get one anymore.

I am pretty sure you can get the pre paid ones at like CVS or Rite aid. I know that Western Union has them for certain. I have yet to use one but I hear they are safer when buying things online. Good luck!

You can get them at several different places. I once got one from Citizen's Bank, you cannot reload that one though. It cost about $3 to get it. I have seen them at Caz's and I think Rite Aid has them too. I've heard that the ones at Caz's are reloadeable.

I buy the ones I have gotten at my grocery, in Kansas it is Dillons, other places, other names. It costs about three dollars to get, and is not re loadable. As others have stated, there are re loadable ones at some banks. As VMKS states, there is no interest. Unlike the ones from the truck stops, there is no other fee. They are secure online, and if you want to do a trial of something, they limit how much you could ever get scammed for. Even after me telling him about this, and having my hubby use the pre paid, he sent for a $3.00 offer that had a membership attached if you did not cancel in two weeks. He cancelled in less than one week, they still took a month's membership out of the bank, we filed to prosecute them. It would have saved a lot of trouble if he had just used one of the prepaid Master Cards that we have.

You can usually get American Express credit cards from the grocery store. You should also be able to order a prepaid Mastercard or Visa card online. The easiest option is to go to a bank and get one. You don't have to go to your bank, you can go to another local bank that you don't belong to and they will sell them to you as long as you are paying with cash. I honestly don't like prepaid credit cards because you always have to know exactly how much you have on it. Otherwise you can run into problems when you are trying to pay for something and there is not enough credit to cover it. For instance if you have $16 left on the prepaid credit card and you are mking a purchase for $25 it will automatically be declined. You have to know exactly how much money is on the card.

If you know of any Love's Truckstops in your area if you are in the lower 48 states of the US they have these pre paid credit cards but they have fees attached to them so be aware of this, before you buy one read all the info with the card as they are pretty tricky with how they charge the fees for the buyer.

You can get a Visa giftcard at Walgreen's and it works just like a credit card. I got one with $50 on it plus I had to pay a $5 activation fee. You can't add money to those as it's a one time thing. Also you can't get cash back from these cards. They're for purchases only. On the back of the card is the link to their website where you can check your balance. There are also cards that you can reload for a small fee each time. You could probably speak to someone at Walgreen's to get a little more info on this. Or if you decide to get one, there'll be an insert with it giving you the full details of the card. HTH

i think you would have to go to the bank to investigate about these, but i never heard of them, but it sounds alright lol i might have a look around and ask my bank about it and see what they say.
