Allowing Messanger Programs to Read your Conversations

I remember when I first started using MSN messanger, there was an option which would allow MSN to save and read your conversations for research purposes. What do you think of this? Would you allow them to read your conversations? Why or why not? Why do you think they want to be able to read your conversations?

I definitely wouldn't want anyone reading my private conversations! I know it wouldn't be people I actually know who would be reading them, but it would still bother me. I value my privacy a lot, so I would feel pretty uncomfortable with that.

I haven't recalled that. I've followed msn from when it was a beta just starting out so it probably wasn't in the version I had. (which was a uk one) I do know they had an options to gain information about how often we used it and who we chatted to but nothing about keeping logs of our chats. I would accept that and I'd find one which didn't. ~Joey

serious? i don't even know that. i just know that we can save our typed messages for future reference. Whatever it is, i will never save any messages or let anyone read my MSN messages...hehe..cos i gossiped a lot, and it will serve as more as an inconvenience should people read it.

I would not like this because anything I would be saying wouldn't be anything they need to know about. It would be an invassion of privacy to me.

I wouldn't want them to read my conversations. Many of the things I talk about are of a personal nature, or private matters that I don't wish to share with others. If I wanted to share these matters with others, I would do so without their help. Additionally, many times we may forget that there was someone "listening in" on our conversations, and might say some things that we would not normally wish to share with strangers. I don't know why they would want to read my conversations. That is a good question, but as I said, it isn't something that I would want.

Well I think that it's are right to say what we want in private. It is not like here that everyone are say and responding to what other people feel or even say we are limited what we can say to a point. We should use im and mails to other people and don't worrie if someone else are reading them.

Really? I knew we could keep the conversation but I didn't know they would read it! My option is no way for anyone to read it I think it's private.
