The underdevelopment of my country India has forced me to write this discussion. Dr.Abdul Kalam, the former president of India says " Our conscience is morgaged to money " He has correctly said this because..had he thought of big money he would have gone abroad for handsome income. Being a great soul, he thought how he could become a great scientist in India.Unless he had financial support and other required assistance from Indian Government number of people after obtaining degree with the support of government they think only fat money. some people go to other countries to earn big money and their genuine services are not offered to the country where they were born brought up and educated.India consists of villages the people are still without basic amenities, hospitals are without doctos , schools without teachers , labs without technicians but trained doctors engineers, technicians and teacher have gone to foreign countries to make money. Its my agony because of my country still into the gripps of economic underdevelopment and poverty even with lot of resources. why not those people realise what they have been doing to their mother land ?

Those who want to go out of India should better be let go. There is no point in forcing them to stay back and serve their motherland, they won't do even if you insist them to. They have never been true patriots and would not be also. Infact, there are lots of people who truly believe in living for and developing their country, its better to support and encourage them. The first thing everyone should follow is to not break the laws, it would be of no use if you break the law and do social service, just as some naxalites do. It does'nt make any sense. Also conservation of natural resources and wildlife would do a lot of favour to India. It does'nt need loads of money or higher education or power to make India develop, one can take care of the tiny things that are in hand. Just like * Not dumping the garbage wherever they want * A couple can have just one child so that they would give him/her a better education and give their full attention towards him. * Not bringing more vehicles to the home, just as in some families where everyone will be having a vehicle though they don't use it regularly. * Not bribing the government officials. Although its difficult to say so, as corruption is inevitable in india, we can avoid it in some places. For eg; You break a traffic law and the traffic police asks a fine of Rs.200. You just corrupt him giving Rs.100 and get no receipt, that's a wrong thing. By paying the full fine, you would realise your mistake and its enormity. So, this way taking care of tiny things in our day to day life would help better. We can save a lot of national income by doing this and help our country develop better.

You can't change the system. I remember when I applied for a passport and the inspector who came to do the inquiry refused to do his job unless my dad gave him 2000 rupees. My father had a choice to refuse and not have a passport for me but he couldn't afford to do that so he paid him. Unless government takes action the public can not do anything. So I would say again that Abdul Kalam should do something...

He is very correct as always.Besides the greed there is another reason for the people going abroad. The political atmosphere is not at all congenial for a person who wants to start anything new here. The dirty politicians think that they have their share in the hard earned money of the entrepreneurs and they want to lay their dirty hands on everything..Unless we select a good government for the people, by the people and of the people I do not see a silver ling in the near future.

Thanks Subathra for endorsing my views. It is the duty of the politicians to nurture the young generations as disciplined citizens and give them the proper opportunities as they become the adults and support them. You must be knowing which kind of people our leaders are nurturing and supporting.

What Abdul Kalam has done to keep Indian talent in India? While he could have done a lot! Also I would like to see a list of what people are doing for their mother land. Great scientist don't go out for money they go for opportunities. If they stayed in India without the support from the government and funds to make great discoveries their talent will be rotting in some village of India. So should they go out of waste the talent they have? Money is not the only reason why we live abroad. I was against moving out of India but till I saw what other countries have to offer. I could not imagine fighting for basic life all the time in India. Corruption is number one reason why I like to stay outside India. I could not stay in a Country where you give 500 rupees to a policeman so he would not write you a ticket for drinking and driving, to get anything done in government office you have to jump through hoops and bribe. I am used to a simple life. My life is valuable and I expect the support to arrive as soon as I call 911. I can’t haggle all the time to even buy vegetables. I expect to have basic needs of life met like clean drinking water, electricity and so on. I have seen poor students getting in Ivy league colleges and not worrying about the money. In India if you can’t afford the good college get out of the way and let someone who will pay get in line. I don’t want to worry about hepatitis, meningitis and TB all the time. I can keep going listing my reasons to stay abroad and I know I will make more money in India at this time of boom but money is not the only thing in life.

This is really what i feel.I always felt that it is not correct morally to go abroad & give yp\our services to others when your own country requires it the most.Have you watched the movie Swadesh. It deals with this particular subject.I think you owe to your country & whatever you are today is from this country only.Eventually you must have obligations which you have to serve.I don't know how so many people live so happyily away from there own country & countrymen.Really money dominates & our life revolves around them.

Dear subathra We cannot stop people from going abroad .. It is their own choice .. but yes that's true that they are not doing anything for their own mother land. Infact they don't think much doing anything about their motherland. People are much concerned with the money and they know that in abroad there are lots of opportunities to earn more and what Dr. Abdul Kalam said is absolutely right -- "Our conscience is morgaged to money". This is true and we can't stop this from happening.
