I limited it to only 3 films so that I could extract the cream of the cream, if you will. So, what are the three best movies you've ever watched? Kindly include the directors, if possible.

1-Shawshank redemption- Steven speilberg?? 2-American history x-have no clue, sorry 3-Gone with the wind-again no idea, but do know that margaret mitchell wrote it. My mind went blank trying to think of some of the best films I've seen, this was a tough one. Funny enough, i'm a complete horror buff but not one sprang to mind as one of the best films i've seen.

This is truly an incredible list, twilight_75! Shawshank Redemption is indeed a great inspirational film, which to be honest, really moved me. Oddly, though, whenever I watch Shawshank Redemption, I always think of The Count of Montecristo. If I were to guess, though, perhaps I tend to think of the latter because it has some similarities (in regard a man's quest for retribution or justice, for instance) with the former. I could not remember if I have already watched American History X, however, but is this a movie that has something to do with Nazism, which stars Edward Norton? If it is, then I believe I've seen it already. In regard Gone with the Wind, though, I must admit that I haven't had the chance to view it yet. Before I try to find a copy to watch, to which genre does it belong? I hope soon enough you could recall the horror films you've watched, which you could hopefully recommend. Thanks a lot for your very good post and Happy myLotting! ;)

Scarlett O'hare, to my mind, seems to possess the same qualities of Dominique Francon or Dagny Taggart (Ayn Rand's female characters in her books--The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, respectively). Anyway, if Gone with the Wind is indeed the first film in "technecolour" and Scarlett O'hare is truly a powerfully attractive character to watch, I would not mind viewing it, even if it's 4 hours long. Thanks a lot for your very relevant comment, twilight_75! ;)

It is Edward Norton. Gone with the wind was either the first film in technecolour or one of the first. I love scarlett O'hare a beautiful selfish but incredible strong woman. Be warned if you do decide to watch it, it's a whole 4 hours long!

I don't think I remember the dircetor as well..sorry but here's my top three; 1. 300 - I can watch it again and again and again. 2. MAN OF HONOR- very inspiring eh 3. TITANIC- though am not a big fan of jack and rose but the movie it self is amazing.

I fully agree that 300 is really worth watching n number of times. Man of Honor is likewise a very inspiring movie, essentially serving as a testament to the immense strength and willpower of the human spirit. As to Titanic, I share your feeling about the characters, but the movie is indeed amazing, if only because it was a film about true love. Happy myLotting and more power! ;)

OK, I thought hard about this, and these are the ones I came up with: 1. While You Were Sleeping (1995) a comedy starring Sandra Bullock that was directed by Jon Turteltaub - It is not a simple comedic formula that we see a lot of. It was an original plot, and was so good that I have watched it numerous times over the years. 2. Last of the Mohicans (1992) a historical drama starring Daniel Day-Lewis and directed by Michael Mann - It just swept me away, so much so that I bought the movie. 3. The Matrix (1999) I'm sure lots of people have seen this, but I liked this original the best. Starring Keanu Reeves, it was directed by brothers Larry and Andy Wachowski.

At the onset, I would like to commend you because you really took the time to think hard of your list, AmbiePam. ;) Anyway, among your top 3 list, I'm only fortunate to have had the opportunity to watch the last one. While You Were Sleeping really seems very interesting and, given that you've "watched it numerous times over the years," I would most certainly try to find a copy of it so I could view it myself. Just a question, though, is it a love story? Last of the Mohicans likewise seems to be equally interesting, especially since, as you've clearly said, "It just swept me away, so much so that I bought the movie." Thanks to your post, I would try to find a copy of this movie as well, if only to experience what you've experienced when you watched this historical drama. Happy myLotting and thanks for your insightful post!(",)

While You Were Sleeping is essentially a love story I guess, but it is so funny that I don't even think of it that way. It's rated PG, and a very clean movie too, so I don't feel like my brain will rot if I watch it, LOL. You know what I mean?

Gone With The Wind - Victor Fleming The Notebook - Nick Cassevettes Tombstone - George Cosmatos I could watch these movies thousands of times. I think I know most of the words to Tombstone. I have watched it so many times over the years. I have several others that I could add to this list. I love Clint Eastwoods Heart Break Ridge. That is a great film as well.

The movies included in your top 3 list really seem to be very good ones, considering that you could "watch these movies thousands of times." However, to be honest, I haven't watched such films yet. I've watched Clint Eastwood's films like Dirty Harry, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Million Dollar Baby, among others, but I haven't watched Heart Break Ridge yet. If you were to classify the 4 movies you've enumerated, to what genre would each of them belong? Thanks a lot for your much valued post and Happy myLotting, mamasan34! ;)

Like you, srahruthbeth, I have seen many great films from different genres and liked a lot of them. What you like, though, is more important to me and it would not really matter whether your top 3 movies belong to a particular genre or to several genres. You're really free to share your top 3 lists from all movie genres, if you want, since it would surely enrich this discussion. Thanks a lot and Happy myLotting! ;)

I haven't had the chance to watch it yet, but many people tell me that it's really a good emotionally charged film. Thanks for your greatly valued contribution and Happy myLotting! ;)

Hello! Only 3? ayy...this is hard...let me think....hmmmm...but I dunno who the directors are...I haven't got a clue at all. Everytime I watch a movie I don't really think who's the director is. Anyway here are my top 3 movies: 1. Finding Nemo - animation movie by walt disney picture. My fave movie when I was pregnant with my lil girl and actually got her nickname from that movie. *hehe* 2. Lord of the Ring (Trilogy) - The movie was amazing. Love Orlando Bloom as Legolas. I can watch it again, again, again 3. 50 First Date - I love all the songs in the soundtrack, I listen to it almost everyday in the office. ciao! c",)

You have a very nice list, fab315! ;) Yeah, Finding Nemo is indeed a fascinating animation with a good moral. No wonder you nicknamed your lil girl as such. Lord of the Rings, I feel, is a trilogy that is really worth watching, given its amazing special effects and equally amazing cast of characters. 5O First Dates is obviously a delight to watch, too, and its soundtrack only heightens your overall pleasurable viewing experience. Thanks for your much appreciated contribution in further enriching this discussion! Happy myLotting! (",)

i got tons of movies. but my unforgettable movie, even when i'll have amnesia. I think it'll be 1. Schindler's List - need more explanation? made by Spielberg, steven - yeah it was him. :p 2. Nuremberg (2000 version) - i think it was a TV movie. (not sure) - I watched it in cinemax. :D Directed by: Yves Simoneau or something spelled like that lol. 3. uhm.. ok.. wait! hehehe Titanic and uhm.. Ok having trouble. :p Oh, I'll give Tom hanks credit, I cried at this movie - Saving Private Ryan - directed by Spielberg AGAIN. :D I like war films. There are a lot of films I would never forget. Sybil would be one of my choices. Cast Away The Rise of Evil (Adolf Hitler) Breakfast @ Tiffany's and Sabrina SIMONE I Am Legend. Oh my god. 1 hour to answer this question, 45 minutes of remembering! hehehe I love this. Thanks! :p

3 of my favorite movies: 1. The original Star Wars Trilogy (you just can't separate them--they are too good)--George Lucas is a genius and these are just good story telling. 2. Gone in 60 Seconds--I don't know what it is about this movie that just gets me. Maybe it is the fast cars or the great actors in it. I have to watch it every time it is on TV 3. 10 Things I Hate About you--a silly teen comedy/romance but it gets me. It is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" staring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. It is quirky, funny and original.
