Tamohamed, my guess is that you know the story of Jesus from reading the Quran. I suggest that you also read the account in the four Gospels. It will certainly do no harm to see what the followers of Jesus said. Jesus himself never referred to himself as God or even directly as the Son of God. All of those claims were made by other people. He himself called himself the 'Son of Man' and asked his followers to think of God as our 'Father', as he obviously did himself. In fact, in the prayer that is commonly called 'The Lord's Prayer', the word used for 'father' is a colloquial term such as one might use for one's real father - in English, an equivalent word would be 'daddy'. Jesus was almost certainly certainly crucified. There is evidence outside the Gospels that a Jewish dissident was crucified at that time. Crucifixion was a common method of execution in those times. What happened afterwards may be open to interpretation but the story, as recorded in the Gospels, seems to me to have been written with honesty and conviction. I believe that it is up to all of us to find the best sources of information, read them carefully and as without bias as possible so as to try to discover the truth. People say of the Bible as it is said of the Quran that it is not possible to understand it properly unless we read it with the 'guidance of the Holy Spirit', in other words, while reading these texts we must allow God/Allah Himself into our hearts to guide us. Many people, of course, have written and spoken their of own understanding and often these may be helpful but, surely, the only place we should look for the REAL truth is from God Himself. If He expects our love and worship and claims to love his children, it is reasonable to assume that He will speak to us individually in our hearts, if only we can learn to listen.

I disagree with one point you make owlwings: “The truth is, before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:58 NLT) Jesus most certainly did claim to be YHWH. The I AM THAT I AM as revealed in the burning bush to Moses. “Son of Man” referred to Jesus’ role as Savior-King, fulfilling the messianic prophecy of Isaiah 53:10 Isaiah 53 is the most comprehensive prophetic passage of the coming Messiah, and clearly depicts him as the suffering Savior. Isaiah had also referred to the Messiah as “Mighty God,” “Everlasting Father,” Prince of Peace” Isaiah 9:6.

There are many more instances of His claiming to be God. He said in John 10:25 “The Father and I are one.” If Jesus had meant that he was merely in agreement with God, there would have been no strong reaction. But, the Jews again picked up stones to kill him. Jesus then asked them, “At my Father’s direction I have done many things to help the people. For which one of these good deeds are you killing me?” They replied, “Not for any good work; but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, have made yourself God” (John 10:33).

Jesus was pure flesh and blood and nothing more. Jesus was God's example to us to what He could do with any flesh and blood man. What made Jesus so special is the amount of wisdom and power that God shared with Him after the day Jesus was Baptized. This was also and example to us of what God will do for anyone that will trust in Him. It is just as real today as it was when Jesus lived. Art

But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. John 1:12

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (James 5:16)

He chose to die for our redemption. God became flesh and blood to shed that blood for the atonement of fallen mankind.

And when you fail and fall down, when you are met with the impossible? What then? We are all in need of God, my friend. Some of us just haven't realized it yet. But you will one day. I hope it isn't when you stand before HIM with an empty soul. God bless.

Dear friend, have you ever looked at the sky? or at the stars? or at a newborn child? Have you ever seen such wonders and not ask from who such beauty came from? I see God in such things and that tells me that He is real. God bless you.

Jesus was crucified by choice. With all the miracles and the curing he did, he could have escape or found another way around this. He walked on water. As the Son of God he made the choice to get crucified for our sins so we could be made clean and when the time come go to our true home with God, and to assure he is the Son of God he rose on the third day like he said he would. Everything you need to know is in the bible. We as human disbelieve alot because if we didnt see it or if its unreal we dont believe it is true. IF we took the time to research everything that is happening is in the bible. This presidency, this recession, the shortage of food, sickness that we never heard of... Swine Flu. I'm not here to make you a believer but please research and read the bible. The King James Version is a good one and it will really open up tour eyes if you are wiliing. God Bless

Exactly, Jesus is not God. According to the story he chose to be crucified, nobody really knows what went on. It was his choice.

hi tamohamed.. welcome to mylot.. i am certain that you're a muslim. and even if i give you the answer, you still won't believe 'cause moslems and christians have distinct basis of faith.. but for the sake of sharing ideas, the answer is in john 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." in verse 14 it says, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." for more truths about christianity, visit: http://www.esoriano.wordpress.com/

Because it was part of God's plan. For the Son of God to be sacrificed to save us from our sins. Jesus Himself asked God why he was chosen to do so when he was crucified. But as we know, God see's things in a way we can never comprehend. No matter what happens, know that it is His will and His word. We only need to have faith in God's plan for us.
