Virus is the main problem nowadays. They never stop and keep producing hundreds of new viruses daily. This can be a very good business opportunity for anti virus company. The numbers of anti virus's brands are increasing along with the numbers of viruses. Among those brands, I curious which one do you use and which one do you think is suitable for you. I am using three different anti virus. NOD32 4.0 is my anti virus at my office. Kapersky Internet Security 8 is my anti virus for my computer at home. AVG Free (I can't remember the version) is my anti virus on my laptop. I still not satisfy on three of them. NOD32 is too annoying with messages appear on the bottom left of the screen, Kapersky is too heavy and make my computer slowing down on start up, AVG Free is not so good because it failed scanning a virus from my flash disk. So what is your anti virus? Do you happy with their protection?

Now i am using avast anti virus software.I am satisfied with its performance.I also tried Nod32 and this software is also a good one.I think anti virus companies are developing new and new virus and it is a big business in computer industry.

I used avast once but I did not get the updated version for free. I kept saying but the upgraded version of the software to get daily updates, so I uninstalled it. Do you use the free version and get daily updates?

I used avast along with Kapersky. Sometime, Avast can detect the virus that cannot detect by kapersky. But kapersky clean more viruses then Avast (if I let them run together in one PC). So I decided to keep the kapersky and uninstall the avast

avg - avg anti virus

Hi there, well right now i am using AVG Anti-virus its free edition so far i dont have any problem while using it. Before this i am using NOD32 also it was given by a friend but i dont know maybe it was expired already and i can't install it again. Good that i find AVG which is free and everyday i was updating it and happy with the performance of my anti virus, keep on mylotting

Maybe I try the new version later on for my laptop. I used the older one and it is not so good. I got infected by a virus before. I have to bring it to my friend and get clean up with kapersky

AVG's latest free version, 8 and later has too bad performance with our office computers. The older versions, 7 and olders performed very well but the latests slows down the performance of our computers and sometimes our computers hang and we have nothing to do more. So we changed to avast! and it's also free and performs very good.

I have tried almost all anti-viruses that are there in the market but the one which I liked the most is Quick-heal anti-virus which is a Indian company located in my city. It can remove all the deadly viruses and spyware and also does not slow down the computer. It costs me around 22$ a year but I'm satisfied with it so far. I think that these free anti-viruses like AVG and avast are not capable of removing all the viruses. You need to purchase a good anti-virus software like kaspersky or quick-heal to get more protection from online threats. No anti-virus can give you 100% protection but they certainly provide more protection than the free ones.

I am currently using AVG too. I think it is quite good cause it helped me clear many virus that NOD32 could not mentioned. It also successfully detected the virus from my USB, which was infected from my school. I don't suggest Avira because it wastes many resources. Have you ever try avast? It has a free version too. If you really think that AVG cannot satisfy your need, maybe you can give it a shot. Happy myLotting=]

Are you sure Avira wastes many resources? Someone replied that Avira is very light. I am thinking to change my AVG to Avira. Which one do you prefer?

Yes, after I responded I have read through your post. My experience is one of my friends installed avira and his laptop was slow down. But I knew his laptop is quite old for sure. And I am not sure whether if Avira hasimproved their technology within these few years anyway. But I have never heard about my friend used avira, and I have never recommended my friend to use it anymore XD. I agree with one of the myLotter said that every anti-virus will have its weak point. How effective of an anti-virus is always related on how many users are using it. Because virus reports will be sent to the company and being analyzed. In your case that you didn't satisfied with many common anti-virus, maybe you can try it though. Hope you can send me a short comment about it if you choose to install Avira. Thanks. I use kaspersky internet security 9 . I like how kaspersky do the scanning from time to time. It works perfectly fine with me. I also installed spyware doctor and super antispyware for added protection. Well, I am honestly quite happy with their functionality though sometimes not lol. Is there an anti virus that can detect and delete all viruses? If you know please let us know as well. Cheers

I use Kapersky internet security 8 for my computer at home. It is quite heavy and slowing down my computer when start up. Is it happened to you too? For Spyware doctor, do we really need to install those? I think it's slowing down our system to load all of those

spyware is required if you visit lot of unknown sites. Because those sites tend to have spyware and malware in order to get more traffic to their site. As soon as you enter such sites, they automatically download their software in your computer and it loads when you switch on your PC or connect to the net. Its really annoying. My AVIRA detects all those things as soon as I visit such sites. So I am protected completely. Also AVIRA does not slow my PC down.

My computer experienced a lot of reprogramming because of viruses (GRRR get lost virus!) Kaspersky slows down my computer a bit but i find it much better compared to my older one. I don't think spyware doctor is really necessary, i just installed it just to avoid viruses that kaspersky cannot detect. There are things that kaspersky cant detect that spyware doctor can. I am not good with computers actually, i just noticed it from personal experience.

Yes many viruses have been developed so far..actually it get born every hour even our antivirus cant do anything without staying up to date..so for my computer's protection i have kept nod32 4.0.314 cause after all it's one of the best antivirus ever build and it detects not only viruses but also other dangerous malwares and trojans and i always update it and keep my computer free from viruses...so for me nod32 is the best.

Yes my office computer is also using NOD32. So far, I think it's ok, except for the pop up message is quite annoying every time it finds a virus

hi dodyast3 I have AVG8 and its just great. I have had one every'year for several years.its free and it has neverlet a virus past it yet. I do not have any fancy things on my computer so I do trust free AVG8. I have used this same virus protection for a number of years and have never had any virus go undetected whereas Norton and macafee both failed me several times. so free AVG is excellent.

I am using Norton 360 from the last 15 months never had any issues with the security of the system ... and above all everything works automatically in there and offers me a backup aswell

Since you are using Norton, is it still slowing down your PC? what kind of processor do you use? dual core? I never try the new version of norton, I am not sure whether they have changed the system and becoming lighter then before. Thanks

I have used AVG Free from many years and it has saved me from a lot of viruses and also saved me a lot of money.in the last little while though I have heard a lot of recommendations for AVera antivirus as mentioned with some of the other posters here. I have heard some of the commercial antivirus programs like Norton and Kapersky tend to slow your computer down for some reason. Every once in a while I will check with an online antivirus like Trend Housecall. This gives me a second opinion about what is on my computer.

Yeah thanks to the free anti virus. It saves us money every year. As far as I know, Norton is the worst, it slowed down my computer a lot. Kapersky is slowing down my computer only when I start my computer. After it is fully loaded then, all back to normal.

mine is norton 360. i remember that mine was attacked many times but with the help of my anti virus i was able to kick them out. Too many anti-virus out there offered a lot of things for your computer though some are very expensive. i really dont care of what anti virus i have on my computer as long as my computer is protected against virus and other computer attack.

Hi shantha_45, my AVG works fine too until I have a problem with my computer. I feel slower then before and it looks like the virus is sending data through internet. I can see my modem is working all the time when I didn't do anything. So I scanned my laptop with kapersky and found viruses in there. The AVG cannot detect it

. But I still use the AVG on my laptop. I am planning to try the Avira later on.

I have Norton Internet Security 2009, Norton Ghost, Norton System Works. And for Spyware I use Malewarebytes Anti-Malware. Never had any problems, except for Trojan.Brivs.A which wasn't being taken off of Vista, but that problem got fixed in a week. Malewarebytes had to fix a couple of problems Norton couldn't detect but I made a good purchase as it only cost me the sales tax after mail-in-rebate

I first used McAffe as I got it free for 1 year when I purchased my computer. After it expiry I started using AVG, until it started giving problems to my computer. I had to search a lot for getting another good free anti virus program and I found Avira AntiVir. I am currently using AntiVir and I am satisfied with it.

I do use AVG, its too passive i dont even know its working. Thats both a good and a bad thing. I also use AdAware i dont really know if it removes virus or just spyware. Other than that, i think i have AVAST on my computer too. So far im quite happy with their function and services. I got NOD32 i think from somewhere, it didnt appeal to me i forgot why though =x. Norton was pissing me off last year. It lags my computer and wouldnt install on my other computer for some reason.

ha ha ha... if you use NOD, you will notice whether it's working or not. It always shows a bubble message every time it found a threat. I used NOD in my office, I feel bored to close the message all the time

I stopped using AVG with all the computers in the office. AVG gives a lot of problems with, being the one in-charge of the computer maintenance. AVG was good until it upgrades to version 8, computers always hang. I now use avast!

Really? Do you know why? Is it not compatible for computer network or what? I never install the AVG on server, so I don't know they can make the PC hang. I used AVG on laptop, it works ok.

Hi I use AVIRA and I am really satisfied with it. It is really light, takes very less memory for running. It scans all types of deadly virus during my internet access and any software access as well. It gets updated automatically when my internet connection is on. And gives me alert if not updated for more than 2 days. It is totally free and takes very less time for scanning my complete PC. Its user friendly and one must go with it, if you don't have a dual processor that is for people with older or slower versions.

Virus is a menace! It shuts all the computer down in just a snap. The files will disappear in just a blink of an eye.

In our computer we use, Avira Anti-virus while on the other, we use AVG free also. I have heard a lot of good remarks from Kapersky but my brother told me that you have to pay for it. can someone show me a good and reliable FREE anti virus?

You already have the best one, I think. Avira and AVG are the best free one available so far. I will download Avira and try it on my laptop to replace my AVG. Other members said it is lighter then AVG.

I use Kaspersky on my desktop computer, but as you said is really correct. They really do slow down my computer. That is why on my notebook, I use AVG anti virus, it seems to be better. Whilst in my office computer. I use Norton Antivirus, which is what I think is okay too. I have used NOD32 before, and they are pretty good. But it seems that sometimes they do not scan the pc fully.

You have the same situation as me. My notebook has lower specification then my PC at home. That's why I don't want to install kapersky in there. So I choose AVG. Now I am thinking to try Avira because I found a few virus on my laptop. AVG failed to detect those viruses. For NOD on my PC at office, it seems ok up to now. It detects all the viruses that came from internet, flash disk and even from server.
