Friday night dinner (+ worsening weather)

It's been 2 weeks since school started. We've all been busy with some new things - new flat, new work for the husband, new school for the girls, new neighborhood, new routine, etc. We drive to our country home at least twice a week to check on the house and to get some fresh air and enjoy bigger spaces. We are currently here at the old biggie house for the long weekend. We return to our tiny flat in the city tomorrow afternoon. Last Friday, we had a post-birthday dinner for our second daughter who turned 13 last August 16th. Birthday celebrants get free unlimited food at Sambokojin. It's been years since we ate there. I remember spending my birthday in that same resto branch a long time ago with my fellow November 26 celebrants - my brother and his band mate. Anyways, the dishes were okay but not as spectacular as before. I loved the squid slices and the pork and beef strips. Miso soup was good too. We didn't expect some dishes to be cold. I was disappointed with my cold beef curry, cold callos, and cold burger steak. I ended up grilling the burger steak a bit so it could redeem itself. My best experience would be the gelatos. I had a scoop each of avocado and chocolate ice cream. I hope you're all spending the weekend in the best way possible. I've been monitoring the BC and AB wildfires and checking on my sister who's based in Calgary. I'm also praying for SoCal people who are bracing for Hurricane Hillary. We've got friends and relatives in LA and Orange County. All for now. * Photo is my own (if it ever appears)

I'm glad things are going well for you and your family. I'm spending the weekend cooking foods and playing on myLot. (I wouldn't like foods that I expect to be hot if they're cold instead.)

Thanks, DE. Do you usually spend the weekend cooking several dishes?

@almostoveryou You're welcome. Usually, I cook something every late evening for a late supper. But, if my eyes have been swollen shut, I will spend several hours a day cooking until I rebuild the stash of cooked meals in my freezer. (That way, my daughter just has to microwave something for me to eat instead of cooking for my meals herself. She and I don't always agree on what can go into my foods. )

@DaddyEvil Why would your eyes be swollen shut?? I see you've got a neat strategy for making sure that you get to eat the food that you like. I'd like to try cooking several batches of food over the weekend and freeze them so we can just reheat food when we're in the city. I have a one burner induction stove in the small apartment and it's taking a while for me to get used to it. I love my gas stove here in the biggie house and I can easily cook with two burners.

You've been quite busy. Between the heat, the wildfires and hurricanes there is so much going on in our world! Enjoy your day.
