Something new!

I tend to be a creature of habit. Not unlike our fur friends, we humans tend to like things predictable and controllable. It reduces anxiety and keeps us feeling sane in a sometimes "random" world. One of my comfort foods is sharp cheddar cheese. I keep it in my fridge, sometimes add it to my eggs, and often just munch on it when I have a "break in the action." Yesterday, I went to Trader Joe's to get some frozen Lamb Vindaloo. But then, I stepped out of my comfort zone and into my secondary comfort zone. I bought a wedge of Swiss cheese. My headline/title is deceptive, as my titles often are. Swiss cheese is not new to me. I get it pretty often, but not as often as my sharp cheddar cheese. Do you have certain comfort foods that you almost always keep around the house? Do you have secondary comfort foods that you get once a month or so?

What is Lamb Vindaloo. Never heard of it. Cheddar cheese is my favorite. Or Colby. Not too into Swiss anymore. I like it in my eggs too. I have to have eggs lately. Loving them. I have certain snacks I have to have on hand but my taste changes so they change too. I have to have fish at least once a week.

It's a spicy lamb curry. I get it frozen at TJ's.

@TheHorse You didn't ask my opinion, but I will give it anyway, aren't you fortunate?? Correction--it is an extremely spicy lamb curry. It makes your mouth burn...and no comments on what it does to the guts (at least to mine!) I will be generous. You may have my share!

I would have to say cheddar cheese is at the top of my list! I like a sharp, but my hubby doesn't. Since he doesn't eat a lot of cheese, I usually just get a mild blend. Sour gummies is my go to for a sweet. Love those and glad they come in small bags. LOL!

I try to keep well stocked on everything . Not foods, but more like ingredients are kept on hand so I can make almost anything (including comfort foods) at anytime. I could name a lot of foods, but I gotta say I need my rice.

I guess camembert would be a comfort food for me. Vince doesn't eat cheeses so I don't buy it too often.

@JudyEv I have never smelled squished ants. And, happily, I have never had a squished Aunt.

@TheHorse Brie is good too. I don't like blue cheeses. I always say it tastes like ants but I've never eaten ants so it seems a crazy thing to say. I guess it's the smell that is like squashed ants.

My comfort food is eggs but I don't often eat it. I think I nowadays have plenty comfort foods ranging from fruits, yoghurt, chocolate and ice cream. I don't eat cheese. I wonder how it tastes.

@mildredtabitha It is (of course) a dairy product. If you tummy likes milk, it should like cheese.

I love cheese, especially cheddar and if I could afford it I'd get swiss too. Yeah, when it comes to food I want to always have cheese, spaghetti, tomato soup, chicken broth, smoked salmon, sardines, milk, sourdough bread and various sausages on hand.

I buy a carton of ice cream once a month. I like to have chocolate in the house for when I crave chocolate there it is.

Pecorino cheese and Parmesan are my favorite, but I also like Roquefort, served with butter and walnuts.

@TheHorse I prepare a steak with a Roquefort sauce time by time. I also make small individual quiches with Roquefort, pears and walnuts, those are really good.

Right now with a very tight budget I get what I can and be satisfied with it, I used to love all kinds of different cheeses. Now with my monthly groceries I order American cheese slices in a big package and that is my cheese for the month, It is all right at least it is cheese and I have to have some cheese always,

I will eat anything and everything, so I can't say that I have a primary or secondary comfort food in my house. My comfort food of the moment will be whatever I have in my house that's edible.

I have my comfort food handy when I need something to eat and can't think of what I want but know I'm hungry. They come in handy. I don't know what my secondary comfort food would be. It's good to change your food selection, so it doesn't become mundane.

Yeppers. I have certain foods I always keep around, and others I buy now and again. Heh. Great minds think alike. What you described is pretty much why I keep cheese and dried mangoes around. They're for when I know I'm hungry but can't really say what I'm in the mood for.

Since my husband has been gone his cousins keep me in PB&J sandwiches. I get upset when they run out! That's my comfort food. Other than the sandwiches and frozen foods; I have no food in the house. Have a good weekend.
