Plum Trees in the Ground!

Yesterday, the final round outdoors was planting the plum trees we bought last week. We finally got them in the ground! We were both tired of working in the garden, so veered off to get this job done. Hubby already had the holes dug so it was pretty easy setting them in and covering them up. I am glad that we got them in the ground since we have 85% chance of rain tomorrow. Do you have fruit trees in your yard? Photo Credit: My own, Plum tree

In a couple of years you will have plenty of plums. I also have two plum trees, one fig tree and one apricot.

You are all set!! I can't wait for them to produce! They actually had an apple tree at that nursery where I got them that had small apples on it already!! I thought that was a bit odd!

@LadyDuck That is great! I may have to talk the hubby into going back to the nursery. They put veggie plants on sale for half price and his price was about half of what every body else was selling them for! Now they are a steal!!

@kareng My fig tree already has figs, I counted 22 yesterday. It is still a very small tree that I planted two years ago.

Great that you'll get some rain tomorrow to set them in good. No fruit trees here. We are lucky to have a yard.

We just had a little shower this morning but more should be coming. Also high percentage of rain due to come in tomorrow, as well.

I no longer have a garden but you reminded me of the old days when back in Latvia my mother-in-law had about three plum trees that produced well. My hubby and I would pick those plums and there were crates of them and then we brought them to the Central Market and friends would sell the plums and it gave his mom and us some nice added income,

Nice memory! I think back of all the trees we had when I was growing up and wonder why my mother never made jelly or put anything up! Fig trees, plum trees, pear trees that I can remember. Humm!

If they get some rain on them they should have a head start. Mother Nature does a great job of watering.

Yes, it does!! Still waiting for a significant amount of rain to fall. Just had a very light rain this morning. We should get some before the night is out and also tomorrow.

@JudyEv Oh wow! I remember how bad it was here last summer with around 5 months or so of no rain. The woods even caught on fire very close to our house. The fire marshall knocked on our door to tell us to be ready to evacuate!! Scary day!

@kareng We're being told no decent rains till June. Some of our forests are dying because of the lack of rain.

We have a pear tree in the front flower bed. We used to have a lot more fruit trees at our previous home. Have a good weekend.

@LindaOHio Oh wow! I don't know if the ones at my grandparents are still there or not. The property was sold many years ago and we don't have any relatives living there anymore so don't go back there much.

@kareng Thanks. I remember big pear trees in the yard at my grandmother's house. It's now a parking lot. :-(

I don't. Moving is always in the back of my mind and fruit trees require some commitment.

I hope you get some rain. They will love it. I have cherry and apple. A pear tree too. Mulberries growing wild around the property. I see a tree blooming just outside the pasture this year. From here it looks like it could be a cherry. I will check later this year

@kareng Depending on the type you might need 2. Make sure to check that. Some are not self pollinating
