After three weeks of looking at songs from 1954, you can see what a pivotal year it was for music. We had great country (okay, in my opinion), great pop, swing, and the advent of rock and roll. Before we head into the top ten here’s another 70-year-old gem. You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You - Mills Brothers As with a few other songs (on both lists), this song predates the release year. This was first recorded in 1946. If you’re like me (gee, I’m sorry ), the first or most memorable version you heard of this was by Dean Martin. But man oh man, the Mills Brothers!!!!!! Let me tell you how I got into them (I’ll wake you at the end of the discussion ). Country/western swing singer Hank Thompson did a tribute to the Mills Brothers, even having a country hit with his version of “Cab Driver.” Thanks, Hank T. I love their harmonies. So if I get a chance to remind you of (or introduce you to) one of their songs, I’m gonna do it! You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You Written by Russ Morgan, Larry Stock, and James Cavenaugh Recorded by the Mills Brothers Released as a single, 1954 As sure as the stars shine above:

I know most people like Dean’s version, but who can’t hear the Mills Brothers and not fall in love with their sound.

Same as Judy, I remembered the song because I heart it sang by Dean Martin, but I love this version a lot.
