The Sense of Urgency

Sometimes people work so slowly and cannot use their sense of urgency. For me, I usually need to think ahead of time to do the tasks without any delay. Most people around me keep questioning my way of planning ahead of time. Of course, I just ignore them because they are not the ones who deal with possible challenges in my life. Are you like me, who tends to think ahead of time?

@jstory07 I can agree more with you. I try my best to stay away from people who cannot do the same thing.

Smug concentration on the here and now will lead to future sorrow.I agree with you. If you plan ahead of time, you can avoid some unnecessary trouble.

@Shavkat I understand. It's indeed difficult to work with individuals who don't fulfill their responsibilities.

This is the reason why I quit my job at one of the local government agencies in my city. I cannot work with people who cannot carry out their tasks accordingly. I think we need to be this way rather than feel sorry afterwards.

I will usually organize every step of the job myself before I do it. This makes work faster and smoother. Furthermore, work is rarely confused. The only thing I find annoying is that sometimes I feel quite stressed because my mind always has to think :)

I think it is normal to be stressed out when thinking ahead of time. However, making a checklist is a good way not to feel this way.

I always do the same thing. The worst struggle to do my job before when having my volunteerism in Tajikistan. The country is so backward in all aspectsm, but still, they work so slow.

@Shavkat - We noticed in almost all the places we visited in the Caribbean that people work so SLOW!

Yes. And I often make plans, but health problems don't allow me to accomplish my plans.

We can still do it, one step at a time. Due to time constraints, I cannot complete my action plans. However, I always keep on coping to achieve them.

Since I am working from home, the jobs are done in a routine way. I do not need to change anything or do anything in advance. I only do the advance planning and actions with my offline tasks at home or any errands needed to accomplish.

I like planning but unfortunately I do more planning than actually doing so I might still be late.

I hope you can exert a little more effort to accomplish the planning part. I sometimes fail to do mine, but I tried to set other options for not being able to do them.

Yes, like you I try to plan. Pretty much most decisions I make I plan ahead, give it thought and will even jot down what it is I'm going to do beforehand. Sometimes urgency or rushing can lead to errors and a poor decision which one might regret later. This quote provides a good explanation of the importance of planning: Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort. Paul J. Meyer
