This is a picture of a wolf that I've been drawing ready to paint. I think I've told you about it before, but I didn't show you a picture. I tried to draw it free hand but then I realised that I wasn't getting the proportions correct, so I started to measure everything. I measured the eyes on the reference photo and they were about 1/2 cm so I doubled it to 1 cm on the drawing. Then I measured everything else on the reference photo and doubled it on the drawing. The ears, the distance between the eyes, the distance from the eyes to the nose, etc. When I came to work out the angle of the slant of the ears, I put the reference photo on the drawing, lined it up to where the ears were going to be on the drawing, then got a ruler and placed it along the slant of the ears on the reference photo, and then continued it onto the drawing where the esrs would be, drawing it in along the edge if the ruler following the slant from the reference photo. I made sure I measured the ears first so that I knew where to finish the line. Then I did the same with all the other slants on the ears. Then all I had to do was add the tip of the ears. I used the same method to find the angle of the slants on the sides of the mouth. Except the bottom of the mouth looks too straight, so I'll have to adjust that. That might be done when I'm actually painting it. The area between the nose and the mouth is going to be dark anyway. I realised that the eyes didn't look the right shape, so I've tried to make them more slanted. I don't know if I've succeeded in that. I started this drawing last Tuesday and did the rest of it yesterday. (Tuesday 23 April) I drew in where the white parts are going to be on the muzzle.
