Today I did some more painting. First of all I finished the still life by just adding some shadows under the bowl and the apples, adding some white up top right and adding some darker and lighter pink areas to the placemat bottom left. I took that into my bedroom and let it dry on my desk. Then I googled how to make olive green. One of the ways that came up was a mixture of cobalt blue, crimson and burnt umber. I tried that, but it didn't turn out olive green, it turned out burgundy! I didn't want to waste the paint I'd put out so I covered a canvas with it. It's a medium sized canvas. Now all I've got to do is figure out what to paint on that! I then went back to see what other combinations of colours I could use to make olive green so I tried ultramarine and yellow ochre. I added some white to lighten it. Then I used that colour to go over the background of my butterfly painting. I used a larger brush for the large areas, then I used a smaller brush to do delicate areas, round the edges of the butterfly and the leaves on the left. I added a few leaves and a darker area nearer the top. While that was drying I started on the sand dunes painting which is the one you can see here. This is on the small canvas that I painted orange. First I did the sky with a mix of cobalt blue and cerulean blue with a touch of white. As I came down the canvas I added more white to lighten it. Then I used a mix of yellow ochre, burnt sienna and white for the sand dunes. I added more white for the areas in sunlight and pure white where needed. I put in the distant darker area using cobalt blue and lemon yellow with some of the sky colour added. I left that to dry while I went to get my dinner, then when I came back after EastEnders I started on the areas of dune that are in shadow. I did that in a kind of purple colour to start with. Then I added the green foliage. I went over the foliage to the left with yellow ochre and the rest with the same green but with more white added. I added more white into the sky to make clouds and I added some dots of yellow ochre and cobalt blue to the headland to make it look like there are trees back there. I don't know wether I've succeeded in that. I added some blue to the shadow area on the dunes because I didn't think the purple looked quite right. Then I left it to dry. I went back to the butterfly painting and painted in the leaves on the left. I also filled in any areas in the background that I thought were patchy. Then I decided to leave it there for the night. What have you lot been getting up to today? I hope you are all well. Have a great night.

Later we'll be travelling to another town and going to a play tonight. We're going to stay in a hotel which always seems like a bit of luxury to me.
