I don't understand these college protests

Yes I know that traditionally college/university campuses have been places for protest. I just don't get the point of the current pro-Palestine protests on various college campuses. The Israel/Hamas war is truly awful. I feel horrible for both the Israeli and Palestinian civilians. Both of those groups deserve our assistance and empathy. But America isn't the one attacking Gaza and Hamas targets. America isn't the one stealing humanitarian assistance intended for Palestinians. Biden and his administration have made it abundantly clear to Netanyahu that the Palestinians must be protected and given aid. What are these stupid protests here in the US accomplishing? Biden isn't like "yeah screw Gaza and die MF-ers". All these people are doing is forcing the rest of the semester to go virtual and having their graduation ceremonies canceled. Talk about cutting of your nose to spite your own face.

The protests here are and were fairly orderly. However, they set up tents to rest in and take turns with the protests, they have had University police in full force along with 3 other nearby city departments. We had an annual 5K run scheduled for this weekend. It draws a tremendous amount of people. The city had to cancel the run for the first time ever. Hotels were booked and full. But there is not enough law enforcement to do regular patrols and security and accidents, when you add in the protestors and all the runners. People are very angry. They can’t just arrest them all, it’s not practical, so they say. What a mess!

I know, it’s not like Vietnam where they were protesting because it was THEIR butts that would be drafted.

I can understand students getting angry when the schools they attend raise their tuition rates. But these protests I do not understand the fuss either.
