Renovations still in progress

Renovations are still going on at home. The guy is doing the stairs leading to the third floor. He is doing every other step so we can go upstairs without ruining what he does. We have to skip every other step when going up and down. Not the most comfortable thing but no other choice. Good thing there is a railing to hold on to. Not sure what’s gonna happen when he does the landing where the stairs turns. Can’t skip over that. And there’s more stairs and other stuff that needs to be done. I think it’s about ten months already since the renovations started. I really hope that by summer it will all be over.

@lovebuglena One day you'll look back at it and enjoy the outcome.

My goodness, that's a long time for renovations, considering you're still living at the house while it's all going on!

@lovebuglena Why is it going so slow? Is it one guy working in his spare time to do your renovations?

We started end of July I think. It is almost a year.

@moffittjc The guy leaves around 1 pm because he has his main job after. He comes anywhere between 9 am and 1 pm. It is never at the same time. So, at most it is four hours in a day to do stuff. And he only comes on weekdays and not necessarily every day. That is why it is dragging.

I could not take renovations lasting that long. My hair would fall out from stress.

@lovebuglena I know, that’s extra frustrating.

That’s what happens when the reno is done by only one person and he can’t spend all day doing stuff.

He will try to do the landing in one day asking you not to step on it during the whole day. Your renovations are taking forever.

He just left. I checked and he did both stairs—from 2nd to 3rd floor and from 2nd to 1st floor—every other step and landing too. He said only to step on steps that are covered and not to step on the landing. And gotta do that until tomorrow and try to minimize use of stairs. Don’t know how I will be able to go up and down stairs without stepping on the landing as it’s a turn.

@lovebuglena I am sure that it would be a challenge, hard to skip one step, but impossible not to step on the landing.

@LadyDuck so far managed to step over landing successfully.

This is taking forever. I wouldn't want to deal with all of that. Have a good day.

Don’t have much of a choice, especially since I don’t wanna move out to my mom’s house while this is going on. I hope when he starts the floors we won’t need to move out. Don’t want to deal with that. Packing stuff and not knowing what I need to take with me. I’d rather stay here.

With luck it will all be worth it once it's finished.

Yes. I wish we could already remodel our bedrooms and basement bathroom but can’t do that. Mom already spent a lot of money on renovations as it is.
