Day 110 – Flawless Leviticus 21:1 JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them, ‘None will defile himself for the dead among his people, 2 except for his relatives who are nearest to him: his mother, his father, his son, his daughter, and his brother; 3 also his virgin sister who is near to him, who has had no husband, for her he may defile himself. 4 Otherwise, he will not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself. 5 ‘They will not make any bald place on their heads, nor will they shave the edges of their beards nor make any cuttings in their flesh. 6 They will be holy to their Elohiym and not profane the name of their Elohiym, for they offer the offerings of JEHOVAH made by fire, and the bread of their Elohiym; therefore, they will be holy. 7 ‘They will not take a wife who is a harlot or a defiled woman, nor will they take a woman divorced from her husband; for the priest is holy to his Elohiym. 8 Therefore, you will consecrate him, for he offers the bread of your Elohiym. He will be holy to you, for I JEHOVAH, who sanctify you, am holy. 9 ‘The daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by playing the harlot, she profanes her father. She will be burned with fire. 10 ‘He who is the high priest among his brethren, on whose head the anointing oil was poured and who is consecrated to wear the garments, will not uncover his head nor tear his clothes; 11 nor will he go near any dead body, nor defile himself for his father or his mother; 12 nor will he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his Elohiym; for the consecration of the anointing oil of his Elohiym is upon him: I am JEHOVAH. 13 ‘He will take a wife in her virginity. 14 A widow or a divorced woman or a defiled woman or a harlot—these he will not marry; but he will take a virgin of his own people as wife. 15 Nor will he profane his posterity among his people, for I JEHOVAH sanctify him.’” 16 JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “Speak to Aaron, saying, ‘No man of your descendants in succeeding generations, who has any defect, may approach to offer the bread of his Elohiym. 18 For any man who has a defect will not approach: a man blind or lame, who has a marred face or any limb too long, 19 a man who has a broken foot or broken hand, 20 or is a hunchback or a dwarf, or a man who has a defect in his eye, or eczema or scab, or is a eunuch. 21 No man of the descendants of Aaron the priest, who has a defect, will come near to offer the offerings made by fire to JEHOVAH. He has a defect; he will not come near to offer the bread of his Elohiym. 22 He may eat the bread of his Elohiym, both the most holy and the holy; 23 only he will not go near the veil or approach the altar, because he has a defect, lest he profane My sanctuaries; for I JEHOVAH sanctify them.’” 24 Moses told it to Aaron and his sons, and to the children of Israel. God’s name: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Elohiym – Mighty God Theos – Mighty God – Greek Yeshuwa – Jesus Iesous – Jesus – Greek God’s character: Beautiful Perfect Mashiyach – Savior Christos – Anointed One When a family member dies, the requirements of your job for you to attend the funeral are for your nearest family members. It is the same for members flying to the funeral. The airline allows only the closest family members to fly free. They must show documentation of the close association to the person who died. (Those were the requirements when I worked. I don’t know if those requirements changed.) Society looks at the social standing of the people they allow to mingle with them. They need to have the highest moral pedigree. Every year beauty pageants occur to bring forth the most beautiful woman. She must be flawless in beauty and character. JEHOVAH told Moses the members of the priesthood needed to be perfect in moral character and appearance. They could not marry a woman who was not a virgin or defile themselves for anyone outside their immediate family. They also needed to be perfect in appearance, without defect. Elohiym told the people what their Mashiyach would look like. Isaiah 53:1 Who believed our report? To whom has the arm of JEHOVAH been revealed? 2 For He will grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. Israel’s Mashiyach would be an ordinary person in appearance. Nothing would recommend Him to say He was their Mashiyach. When the officers of the chief priests and Pharisees went to arrest Yeshuwa, He asked them whom they sought. They did not recognize Him as someone special. John 18:3 Then Judas, having received a detachment of troops, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. 4 Iesous therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward, and said to them, “Whom are you seeking?” 5 They answered Him, “Iesous of Nazareth.” Iesous said to them, “I am He.” Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them. 6 Now when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground. 7 Then He asked them again, “Whom are you seeking?” They said, “Iesous of Nazareth.” 8 Iesous answered, “I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,” 9 that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, “Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none.” How do you measure up to Elohiym’s ideal person? Do you have a flawed character? Or have you passed that test? How about your moral character? Are you married? Were you a virgin when you married? Today not many people could pass that test. How about beauty? How many flaws do you see when you look in the mirror? When Yeshuwa died on the cross the veil rent from top to bottom breaking down the wall of separation between Elohiym and His people. They no longer needed to be perfect in appearance or moral character. They could come to Elohiym the way they were. However, there is still a test for pastors and ministers of the gospel. 1 Timothy 3:1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of Theos?); 6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. 7 Moreover, he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 8 Likewise, deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, 9 holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. 10 Let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. 11 Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13 For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christos Iesous. Elohiym wants good moral character in those who serve Him as ministers of the gospel. When you seek counsel from your minister, you want to know they have a good moral character. You don’t seek counsel from a minister with a flawed moral character. You wouldn’t trust him. JEHOVAH needed His priests to be above reproach before the people and someone the people could trust to lead them in worship and praise in the tabernacle and temple. Someone like them, but not like them. Someone who would offer sacrifices for their sin before they sacrificed for the sins of the people. Yeshuwa was like them in appearance as a man. He was a man of good moral character before the people. Before Elohiym, Yeshuwa was flawless, without sin so He could take the sin of the world unto Himself as the perfect sacrifice. Within yourself, you will never fully measure up to Elohiym’s ideal. However, Yeshuwa took your imperfections and made them perfect through His blood so you can appear before Elohiym flawless, in character and beauty. Now, when you look in the mirror, see yourself the way Elohiym sees you—flawless. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for taking my imperfections and placing them on Your Son, so I can stand before you flawless. Help me see myself as You see me when I look into the mirror of Your Word, knowing You accept me as I am. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. The idea of being seen as flawless in the eyes of Elohiym is a comforting and empowering thought, reminding us of the grace and forgiveness offered to us. Thank you for sharing this wonderful prayer and devotion to us.

I guess that Moses was busy enough leading his people, and so God, understanding of this, appointed his brother Aaron, as the High Priest. The Priests had a vital role to play, so it was important that they were faithful in all aspects, bodily, and spiritually, to God.

He was busy. However, because he was of the tribe of Levi, as his brother, he was still a priest. God appointed Aaron as high priest.

@innertalks Yes, he was a prophet because he was in direct communication with God.

@just4him Yes, Moses still acted as a priest, but his brother took the role of High Priest. I have also heard the argument that Moses was a prophet, not a priest, but Psalm 99, verse 6, confirms that he was a priest. "Moses and Aaron were among his priests."
