That last step was a doozy

I needed to get the few things out of the attic that I have stored there. Christmas stuff, and small trees.Today they will blow in insulation all throughout, and the things would be buried. Besides, the decorations are hard for me to get to at the holidays. So, up to the attic I went. It was almost dark. We have fold out stairs that go up. I missed the last step coming down. I fell flat on my front, but not my face. Nothing really seems to be damaged except my dignity and peace of mind. Yesterday the workers went into the crawl space beneath my house. They put a vapor barrier on the ground and insulated around the top of the foundation. Another one worked all day cutting out the water damaged ceiling and putting up sheet rock and taping and mudding it. It looks good. Today they will weather strip the doors and then blow in insulation to the attic. It would have buried my things. Bob came and helped me with my decor. There were fewer than ten things. It will be about three and a half hours until they come. I am ready for this to be done. Bob needs to get up and get awake for his appointment. I will see you later.

It's so easy to miss a step like you did. Vince did it in a theatre once and his smart watch said 'It looks like you've had a fall. Do you want me to ring for an ambulance?'

You're lucky that you fell only one step. I once fell down the choir loft stairs (about 13') landing on my butt.

That last step can really throw me off as well. I can’t do ladders as my one leg isn’t strong due to neuropathy and numbness. I have one little step ladder in the hose that has t steps on it. That’s it. Iif something requires a ladder I have to round up a helper. Glad you were not hurt but I am sure it was a shock. Take care!

I have a hard time lately even with the front steps, going forward. This was backward and was why I fell. I have lost a lot strength wise and balance wise in the last two years.

@GardenGerty I’m sorry, I do know that’s a huge concern. I have learned to try to not hurry, that’s when accidents happen to me!
