In the countryside the crops are changed

Many of the farmlands do not repeat the same crops in the year. In one year if it was cabbage planted there in the other year there is potato plantation. While different crops give different yields, the fertility of the soils are also maintained.

@Beestring Yes, Crop Rotation, especially with certain plants like Legumes in between can help the soil regain its fertility. It has produced good results wherever practiced.

Yes, crop rotation is a good scientific way to retain the fertility of the soil. It's been an age old practice.

Yes, Crop Rotation is a good scientific practice. Yet from what I know, there are many areas in India that just stick to one to Three crops per year and no significant rotation is there.
