More robberies in Oakland.

Rockridge is a "yuppie" neighborhood in Oakland, close to Berkeley. I can only imagine what it would be like to operate a stereo or guitar store there. The neighborhood I worked in in Oakland was way worse than this one. Why is there not at least some police presence there? The "casualness" with which the bad guy took clothes to his car is upsetting. Welcome to my world.

I do not know what is going on with that whole Bay area. San Francisco looks Gorgeous from a far. Oakland has always been a bit more working person and a lot more rough than San Francisco, but still expensive to live their too. I guess how expensive it is and how it just keeps getting worse is why the robbery thing seems to be getting out of control. As Charles Barkley said, sure the rich parts are nice, but you ever seen the poor parts they hide, they are scary.

@TheHorse Indeed, Barkley is as tough as they come, but even he knows. I come from Alabama. I used to white people wanting to kill me, but not not whites, blacks, Jews Hispanics, Asians, yep every type of person on earth who is not doing well will try to kill you here.

If they're scary to Barkley, they're scary to me.

Portland has been going down hill for a few years now as far as downtown crime goes, but is maybe improving a little. I read about five thugs attacking a couple in downtown here in Eugene. They beat up both the man and his wife on a weekend night last week.

We live in a world where people just don't care. We live in a world were we're told not to be a hero. Police apparently have something better to do, don't get paid enough or there aren't enough police to do anything. It's a sad reality, really.

Police are afraid if the perpetrator is a "minority" person . They might wind up in prison. Better just to lay back and file a report.

There are YouTube clips here of people just helping themselves to stock off the shelves. They have no shame at all.

@TheHorse Yes. The woman was filling her backpack from the shelves and her child was adding things as well.

People work so hard and they are robbed. This is very unfair.

Moany stores are moving away from Oakland and San Francisco now. Even SF was something of a ghost town last time I was over there.

You'd think there would be some police if there had been trouble before. I read that my city police caused a group of stealing murodders. They would travel around the country and rob and steal from different stores. The nerve of some idiots.

There should be harsher jail sentences for shop lifters/robbers.

Certainly would not want to run a small business in that kind of neighborhood, People work hard and it is so sad that other think it is OK to rob them, Not right or fair, Makes me wonder if a person is safer and better protected if they open up a store in a mall.

Malls are kind of fading away. They sure were a thing in the '80s and '90s.

Robbery is very prevalent in India. Today thieves stole my biggest raw mangoes that hung on to a low branches.

They pick up the clothes as if they were buying a loaf of bread in a grocery store. I think people that loot and steal are pond scum.

That's quite alarming and worrisome. I wonder what the government and law enforcement agencies are doing. If crime rates are high, police force presence is essential. Those things must be reported. If law enforcement agencies don't take action, it would be better than someone raise that complaint to the city hall. If that doesn't work it would be better to have a community complaint submitted to the regional and national offices. It will be slow, but at least there will be progress.
