74 year old man denied UK citizenship after living there for almost 50 years

A 74 year old African man will now have to wait for 10 more years to be granted a permanent citizenship of the United Kingdom, after living in the country for 50 years paying taxes. Now he has to pay for the NHIS and many other things he should be getting for free.

No one is "granted" Swiss citizenship it does not matter how many years you live here. I am here from 25 years and I did not get Swiss citizenship.

Well, I think UK is different. Do you speak Swiss? If you do they should have awarded you a citizenship.

@ogbenishyna "Swiss" language does NOT exist, we speak three different languages in Switzerland, it depends which Swiss Canton you liv. Here in Canton Ticino the language is Italian and YES, I speak Italian. You have to submit a formal request to become Swiss citizen, you must pass exams to prove you know Switzerland, at least two of their languages (I speak both French and Italian), you know their habit and culture and you pay $ 5,000 to submit the request. I DID NOT, Italian I am and Italian I stay.

I have to think there is more to the story than just the basics you are saying. A lot of factors go into citizenship, even if you pay taxes for decades.

That's quite a long period of time to be granted a permanent citizenship.
