Would you shave your head for a fundraiser?

I live here is Las Vegas and pretty much got into the hockey scene. I recieved a news letter stating that some of our hockey team members are going to shave their heads for donations to help cancer patients. I found this so wonderful that there would be so many people that would shave all of their hair off just to raise money. My daughter decided to ask me if I would shave my head. You know, I actually think I would donate most of my hair, but I am not sure I could go completely bald. I then started to think more about it and realized that these little kids probably didn't want to be bald but they didn't have a choice. What would you do if you ran across a fundraiser for shaving your head to save a cancer patient?

no, but as a styist i'd gladly shave your head! i think its great to do for someone, and in my position, i would show my support by shaving someone's head for free. By the way, it must be so fun living in las vegas!! i envy you.

I don't think I will shave my head, I may donate some hair though. Yes, Las Vegas is wonderful. I have found that you don't gamble as much when you live here as you do when you visit.I also like the fact there is no snow.

I think that this would obviously be much easier for a man to deal with than for a woman, not to say that men don't like having nice hair also. It's just that men are more often seen bald than women and it would be less of an oddity to see a bald man than a bald woman. I can honestly say that I would not shave my head bald, but I would grow my hair and then cut it to donate to help a cancer patient. I know of several people who have actually done this. I hope that this doesn't make me seem too shallow.

I agree with you. I would let my hair grow longer and then donate it. I have lost many to the Big C and I feel for everyone that has to deal with that.

I have to state categorically that I wouldn't shave my head for charity ever. I can volunteer my darling husband though (as he shaves his head every week anyway being bald and all). I can think of other ways to raise money for charity or not be involved at all. I don't mean to sound harsh, I give money to charity as and when I can and don't really like the idea of gimmicks like this. I don't mind sponsoring people doing runs for charity or walks but not things that will dramatically change their physical appearance such as head shaving or getting a tattoo or shaving eyebrows (yes I've heard of people doing such things). I hope this doesn't come across as me sounding mean, because I really am not :)

I think that I would shave my head for cancer patients. As fas as I am concerned, it's only hair. It will grow back after awhile, and if I find that my head is horribly lumpy and I look terrible with a shaved head, I'll wear a wig. But I would have no problem shaving my head for such a good cause. If I had any doubts all I would have to do is think of all the pain the cancer patients go through, and how the fact that they've lost all their hair is just one of the horrible side effects of chemotherapy and their struggle with cancer.
