categories, ratings and classifications

I noticed one of my friends had a discussion that got 143 responses to date and yet it isn't listed as a hot topic, nor is it a top discussion for some reason. Don't know why. Another friend started a discussion that had triggered my soap box foaming at the mouth responses- not to my friend but on the issue discussed- and I fully expect to lose some of my rating over it, as some people who don't like my point of view will give me a negative rating. It happened once before and I told myself to simply move on-don't get into it- in the future. I think its so unfair- I wouldn't do it- give somebody a negative for disagreeing with me, but its been done to me. I could see giving me a negative for leaving in so many typoes. Anyway I'm savoring my 93/100 today, but after today I imagine I'll lose about ten points. The hot topic and top discussions really don't reflect that- and religion isn't a hobby I enjoy- and I have no control over the christian cross being used as an icon for religion and the rating system seems like a thing of the mood of a given commentatoer- wow- why have the classifications and categories and ratings if they aren''t able to reflect what they claim to?

You go girl! I'm sure you are irked by it, but don't worry about the ratings. I had no idea what the stars and numbers meant. And I didn't know that someone could cause another to have a negative rating. I'm sorry this happened to you. But those who really know you really know you. A pox upon those idiots who slammed you!

thanks Katrinka, I know-isn't it absurd? But I've seen where others had posts dismissed, and the number beside their name lowered! I guess the ratio in the star is where the pos and neg tallies are monitored but the parenthetical numbers by the name got lowered on Aprilgrl and Zukepr said some of her discussions disappeared! Ye gods. I thin most people do try to make their contributions meaningful. appreciate your encouraging remarks.
