I am reading Sidney Poitier's "The Measure of a Man: A Spiritual Autobiography". I saw him discussing it on Oprah a few weeks back; Although I had the book, I didn't get to read it but now I am working on it and so far, so good. I am also reading Adrienne Ellis Reeves, " Sacred Ground" which is an Inspirational Romance. Please tell me what you are reading and a brief thing about it.

I'm currently rereading Bram Stoker's Dracula using my mobile phone. Very fascinating book, it's timeless. It's a dark horror classic and that's very unusual, because there are very very few horror classics around! In fact, the only other horror classic that I can think of is that Frankenstein book by Mary Shelley. And Frankenstein was a loving monster. Count Dracula was just plain evil. The book is creepy, and I love how bram stoker manages to give you that ghastly feeling just by reading his descriptions. I love how he wrote the book, it was brilliant, by presenting the story in the form of journal or diary entries by five of the characters, with some newspaper cuttings. This really allows the reader to know everything that happened, not just from one character's point of view, but from everybody's point of view. It's really a brilliant novel, it's got me gripped from the start!

I was in my teens when I read Dracula, and it was the first and only book that has ever really scared the pants off me. It really arouses a sense of terror, though I think it probably wouldn't have the same effect on me now that I'm a lot older. I enjoy vampire novels, but only if they're well written. They don't have any punch of horror for me any more.

Hello eriennenadine, I remember in college having to read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and remembering how loving he was as opposed as to how folks were talking about him. Very interesting book. Very interesting you are reading it on mobile phone as well; How advanced society has come. Thanks for your response!

At the moment the book that I am reading is called Don Joaquin's Pride written by Lynne Graham, this book is about how this man was coned and lost a lot of money and now the sister has gone back as he was supposed to be dying and Don Joaquin wants the sister who he thinks it the one that coned his friend into losing his money but this book that you are reading also sounds wonderful as I would love to read a spiritual autobiography, I watch Oprah but must of missed her talking about this particular book.

Elie Wiesel; very superb writer. I have read Night and I must say it was quite profound. I believe I read it in like one sitting. Short little book that packs a serious punch. I will have to check out Twilight.

there are quite a few more books but I believe Night is the only one 100% truth... the others are stories with facts from his life in the holocaust in them... but yes that little book did back a very big punch

Thank you for asking. I'm currently reading two books. The first, is ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE: Everything You Need to Know. I picked it up because my father was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Though this book is a slim volume, it is packed with more information I'll ever remember. If you want to know about Alzheimer's, I suggest starting with this book. The second, is a novel called MAD GIRLS IN LOVE. I can't remember the name of the author. It's a hilarious southern novel about a mother who is in a mental hospital and her daughter who was accused of murdering her husband.

I've just started reading "The Kindness Of Strangers" by Kate Adie. She has been a war correspondent for the BBC for years and this is her memoirs. It includes her experiences from covering the troubles in Northern Ireland, the student protests in Tiananmen Square and the Gulf War in '91. As I say I've only just started reading it but I think it will be interesting.

I'm re-reading "Master and Margarita" by Mihhail Bulgakov, because the mini-series based on this book are on our TV now. The book is brilliant, and the series are also.

I just picked up a book called In Defense of Globalization by Jagdish Bhagwati. It was published by Oxford University Press. Just read the first part, but it seems the book is trying trace why people are against globalisation and then show the positives and negatives of globalisation. But finally he seems to be inclined to make a case for globalisation.

I am currently reading 'Lisey's Story' by Stephen King. It's about the widow of an author, who is being 'haunted' by ghosts of their past. I seem to be having trouble finding time to read as often as I would like, so it's taking a while to really get into it.

I'm reading Ovid's Metamorphoses. I have an interest in art history, especially with art that was made in the Renaissance period. I was told by my art history and English teachers in order to gain understanding of the art, I should read Metamorphoses and the Bible. Once I'm done with Ovid, I'll be hitting the Bible, even though I'm not that religious, my family is so I can just borrow one of their three copies XD

This discussion comes up now and again. I am sorry to say I still have N.O.W. No Opportunity Wasted sitting on my desk. But that is because another book has taken priority. I am frantically reading Elizabeth Ruth's "Ten Good Seconds of Silence" before I meet with her on May 11th. And it's due back at the library April 27th but I can always renew it. I fell asleep reading it last night. Will probably have to read the chapter over again.

I am reading the second book in the Dalriada Trilogy, The Dawn Stag by Jules Watson. It's set during the Roman Invasion of Celtic Scotland and brings a banished Prince of Ireland to the shores of Alba just when they need a warleader. It's a bit romantic, tying together his story with that of an Alban high priestess, who becomes his wife much against her will. So far the whole series has been really good. The third book is due out mid May.

I just finished reading "Life As We Knew It " by Susan Beth Pfeffer. It's about when the entire world sees a lunar impact that hits the earth and shifts the earth causing damaging aftermath. It was a very good book but something like this could actually happen and that makes it scary.

just finished reading "the confessions of a shopaholic".. and started reading "The River Piedra, I Sat Down and Wept" by Paulo Coehlo. We no longer pay attention to those miracles and signs God has sent us.. The book will help us realize the valuable things in life that are forgotten.
