colleagues - friends or foes?

I always had good relations with my colleagues and some of them even became my good friends. But i have heard many times that people try to avoid to get close to people they work with. What do you think about it? As for me i sure not always get along with all my colleagues but i think work is one among other places where you could meet great people.
