I read a lot, and nobody ever calls me a geek. What is it with calling you a geek anyway? You are doing something educational with your life. What are your friends learning? To be streetwise... ok, but reading is a far better way to spend your time. It opens your mind to things and gives you a far better insight into things, so keep on reading and be geeky, because you're the one who will win out in the end!!! Brightest Blessings.

well, i read book but i also go clubbing :) i always put a book inside my bag even when i go to the bathroom :)for me the book is kinda an escape, an experience, a thing to help u sleep at night, etc.whenever i feel sad then reading a good book will bring a positive effect to me.when i wanted2see another places that i've never seen, i just open a book.maybe the problem with those geek is with their fashion style. wearing old fashined clothes, wearing those big eye glasses, reading and reading without making any friends..that's y people categorized them as a geek. try to be fashionable, socialize, make friends, then you can be a smart n cool geek in the same time :))

Well, seeing as you don't like it, I won't call you a geek. But, for me, being called a geek is great. I wear the label as a badge of pride. It says I'm intelligent, that I love learning and reading. That I get excited about things without worrying about if they're cool or not. I love geeks. So, call me a geek. It will make me say "Thank you."

Listen, nimz143, not to sound patronizing, but at your age it's more about growing up. "Geek", coming from anyone, doesn't mean a damn thing. You're not here for other people's approval. I got that crap for years, and all it told me was that people I thought were idiots, were really idiots. People who can't accept you for who you are don't know you too well to start with. People who don't read also tend to get lost with ideas, and their thinking isn't very advanced. You'll find they're still basically kids. All the teen/20s stuff is so intense, it gets in the way of growing up, for some people. You're entitled to be yourself and do the things you like. That should be respected by anyone claiming to be a friend, and if not, how much do you lose by losing them? Not a lot, in my experience.

If your buddies call you a geek for reading alot, then I think you need new friends.I personally prefer people that read. Very seldom have I run across a guy who likes to read alot. Maybe that is why I am still not dating since my divorce.I want a smarter guy this time aorund.LOL.

There is no harm in being well read, reading broadens your mind and unleashes the imagination, Dont take these comments to heart because people make fun of things because they cant understand them. I've been called a geek before and I reply I'd rather be a geek than an idiot anyday!!
