I actually write a sort of psycho-spiritual satire. One of the reasons for writing it is that spirit and psyche are such fundamental parts of existence. They need to be explored, not just turned into billboards and jingles. What I specifically dislike is the patronizing, glib, effortless garbage which exploits people's needs. That's another reason I write my stuff, and I spend a bit of time taking potshots at the really superficial, useless drivel infesting this part of literature. The way I see it, if the reader isn't getting at least some sort of value, either as interest, information, or actual help, out of a book, it's just a waste.

I believe that a serious book that deals with psycho/spiritual matters will never try to sell you a pipe dream. All serious books I've read emphasise that life is difficult, and that in the learning of solving our problems lies precisely spiritual growth. So I look on any book or technique that offers easy and fast solutions with a lot of mistrust. Life just isn't that way, and personal growth is slow and (more often than not) painful.
