Too much perfume or cologne

Have you ever been trapped in an elevator or some other tight spot with someone who is just reeking of perfume? You have to wonder if they spilled the entire contents of the bottle on themselves or if they actually gargled with it by mistake. Why the need for so much perfumery? Is their natural body odor so offensive that they have to mask it with a waterfall of eau de cologne? Maybe they packed a dead animal for lunch or are so far behind on their laundry that they have resorted to wearing soiled underwear for the day....who knows? There should be some sort of shut-off valve on perfume bottles that only lets you spray out a set amount each 24 hour period...that way they couldn't sneak back later in the day and re-spray....or better yet, shower daily and use some soap.

Too much perfume or too strong one allways reminds me about the Middle Age Times. There the nobile ladies and gentlemen have used a big dose of perfum INSTEAD of bath.So now my association is the same.

thats always what i think, that the person didn't have time to bathe and is masking something

OMG, it's funny you mention that now, as I was just wondering the same thing earlier this week in the ladies room. My thought was that someone stunk it up and wanted to cover the smell, but it was definitely too much. I also walked by some guy that had on way too much cologne. I don't know what's up with that. Do they think they'll attract more women with a strong scent like that? Sorry dude, it's more of a female repellent if you ask me. You're better off wearing sunblock or bug spray. Sorry if it's a bit harsh, but that's how I feel!

I HATE it, people like that literally give me headaches. Is that fair? Such jerks. What smell are they trying to cover up anyways? Yuck.

I lived in Florida a few years ago and it seemed to me that a lot of people used way to much perfume. I don't know if it's the heat that made the perfume smell so strong or what. I found it totally bizarre that so many people were into that. I have been sick to my stomach many times because of the overbearing smell of perfume. I'll tell you one thing l sure know what perfumes l don't like from that experience.

Maybe the concentration of their perfume is so strong, and they're so used to the scent so their noses are already numb and they didn't notice that they already have put all the contents of their perfume bottles into their body.

I mainly have this problem with men's cologne. I was in my car one time and a guy like 2 cars over was putting his cologne on and I had my windows down and so did he. Well I about had a heart attack it was so strong. I use only 3 small spritzes of perfume. Just enough to smell it up close. I don't want to go around smelling like a hooker.

This is a little off the beaten track but I have been trapped in an elevator .. literally. It got stuck between floors and we had to wait like 30 minutes for them to figure out what happened. People make fun of me because I carry a backpack with me and have all kind of "useless" things in it like snacks etc. They aren't laughing when they are hungry or have the munchies lol. As far as the smell factor .. I don't know which is worse, someone that lays on too much body spray or those that don't use any at all. then you have the people that cut the cheese and look around at everyone else and try to act all innocent.

I have been trapped in many places with people that are so strong that I want to run away. Last year, somebody purchased plants from me and he almost knocked me over with his scent. Another customer commented after he left by saying "Wow, did he put on the whole bottle". I said, "not sure".

Yes I don't get this. I think it is done when that person feels very insecure that day they cover their, Insecureties with purfume. Men do this too. Its just crazy. I cannot stand the smell that permeates from someone who tipped the bottle a little to high that Morning. Heres a tip when putting on perfume people Use your finger and only dab your presure pints. Behind ears, Wrists, and it shouldn't run down your skin. If it does you have too much. As you get hot the purfume smells stronger so ut on less it really is more!

This reminds me of a teacherin my school who used to use a tonnes of perfume. It was so strong that we could smell her a distance away..... before we could even see her. Imagine that! I don't think she notices it though.

oh definetly. i was shopping the other day and this woman-you could smell her perfume from 2 isles over,we thought somebody'd broken a perfume bottle. just the fact that i could smell her when i have 85% smell loss told me she must have been almost unbearable to the other people with me...and probably most of the store. reminded me of the old pepe le pew cartoon where the cat rubs limberger cheese on herself to make him like her LOL
