a sad sad day

Today was a very sad day for me. My husband deployed and I won't see him for a very long time. This week as we spent as much time holding onto each other as possible, he kept saying one thing...don't cry Reesie, don't cry. He is barely gone and I miss him so much that I can scarcely breathe! As always, I put my feelings into a poem. Don't Cry Reesie, Don't Cry -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tears pouring down my face Looking into his loving eyes He caught one with his fingertip Don't cry Reesie, don't cry My life, my love, my heart and soul Will soon travel through the sky Sending back a gentle message Don't cry Reesie, don't cry So many emotions go through me And the big question, Why? His loving words just echo Don't cry Reesie, don't cry As night begins to near us And the final seconds go by I will lay there in his arms and hear Don't cry Reesie, don't cry I'll try to choke back those tears As I let out a painful sigh But know the love in his voice Saying, don't cry Reesie, don't cry As the days come and go Praying they will fly His words will live in my heart Don't cry Reesie, don't cry Tears pouring down my face Looking into his loving eyes He caught one with his fingertip Don't cry Reesie, don't cry __________________

my hubby when he was overseas - This is a picutre of my hubby when he was overseas on deployment for 16 months
I know how you feel My hubby got deployed in August of 2005 and just got back this last November. It is hard and I cried a lot!! Trust me when it is over it seems like it went fast. People kept on telling me that and i never believed them I told them that they didn't understand but looking back to that time now it went fast. Surround yourself with friends and family whenever you need someone They got me through the hard times and the holidays!

This is my husband's 3rd tour to Iraq since 2003 and boy do I know about the time thing. I have an excellent support system and would not ever want to go through a deployment without them! It is so much easier to talk to people who walk in my shoes. Thank you for your husband's and your service.

My heart goes out to you. Fighting back tears is one of the most difficult things to do when you feel like your heart is being ripped out of you. Breathe, breathe often. Huggers to you.

Thank you my friend! Yes, I told a friend, if you are walking on base around China Beach and see a heart laying there, it will be mine, I am sure it was ripped out right there and thrown.

oh god! Why do you have to make me so sad. Its been 10yrs since we are married, and one single night I have not spent away from him for personal reasons, like visiting my mom or friends. But very recently, in the month of January, he had to go for a week to Bombay and I just cried and cried. Every night he used to call me from there and I just did not want to hang up. Only you and people in similar conditions can understand what I went through that week. Though such travels are a part and parcel of life, there is no way I would willing allow him to go again and even then, I would await his return everytime!

I understand completely what it did to you. One day, One week, One year or 15-18 months like I will be going through, it all hurts when the one you love is not home with you.

Thank you so much angel! I imagine there will be times when I need to get it out, just like the other deployments we have been through. This one feels different to me though, I guess because it is a more dangerous mission and also, I have had him so for such a small amount of time.

Wow sweetie that was a great way to express your feelings. I am sorry that you have to deal with it. It is not fun! Just remember we at mylot are here for you and if you need to just let it out. That is what we are here for. I know that I have been going through the same thing. So I know the pain! :) Some have different pain... the pregnant, have a ton of kids, never been through it before etc... but we all know what it is like to have spouse leave. Just imagine how they feel! Take care and if you need to talk send me a message....

Thank you and thank you and your family for your service. We walk in the same shoes, hear with the same ears and see with the same eyes, which are a little different from those who have not experienced this.

Thanks for sharing that, it almost made me cry! lol My husband is also deployed right now. He's been gone for right about 2 months. I know it is so hard! Especially right when they first leave. Once you're able to get settled into a routine and everything, it'll be so much better! I hope you will be feeling better soon! You're both in my thoughts. :) Keep looking up!

My thanks to you and your husband. Yea, I figure it will be like the other times and I will settle into a lonely routine. The nights are the hardest, when he is suppose to be home and not at work, or when I find something funny and want to tell him.

This is a very touching discussion, and what a beautiful poem. It's such a sacrifice he's making to allow everyone to live in freedom. God Bless.

Thank you very much. He was given a choice to stay behind and command the Rear D but would not even think of not being there with his soldiers. He makes me so proud!

I'm so sorry for you right now. I cannot imagine how painful your separation must have been. I read your poem and you worded it beautifully, it brought tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat, not many poems have that effect on me. It expresses your pain so so well. I really don't have any words for you I'm afraid, I've never seen anyone being deployed and so I don't know what it must feel like. However, please know that you and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

I know that nothing I can say will make you feel better but I do want you to know that I truly do appreciate the sacrifice that you and your husband are making to help keep me and my son safe. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Nothing I can say can tell you how thankful I am for your husbands bravery or your personal sacrifice of not having your husband around. Thank you. I am saddened that we have to have war in this day and age but I am thankful to the brave people that put themselves in the line of fire for people they don't know like me. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, your husband and your family as well as all the others who have came before and will come after.

I am sorry that you and your husband will be apart from each other for a while. I know that has to be a very hard feeling on both of you and that you both will miss each other so much. Where was he deployed to? I hope he did not have to go to the Middle East. That was a beautiful poem that you wrote and hope that he took a copy of your poem with you. I am sure he feels the same way about you. Hopefully you both will be able to correspond with each other and let each other know how you are doing.

He is deployed to Iraq. He is my heart, soul and the very air I breathe! He is also a soldier's soldier, he could have stayed behind and commanded the Rear Division, but he would not allow his soldiers to go without him. I respect and admire him even more for the way he takes care of his men.

That is absolutely beautiful!!! I can tell from your writing how much he loves you. How long will he be gone? Your story brought tears to my eyes. I am in a long distance relationship, but though we are far apart, atleast he's not at war. THAT is hard enough, I can't begin to imagine how you must feel. WOW!!! You are definitely in my prayers.

It's hard to understand the magnitude of your situation, but you gave us insight we would not have seen otherwise. I am sending out prayers for you both - that you both would have comfort and be kept safely. I admire the soldier's wife as much as the soldier. Thank you for your sacrifices.

That was the most touching poem. I do know how you feel though. My husband is deploying in two weeks and I just don't want to let him go! I already feel lonely if that makes any sense and every time I see him laying in bed asleep, I want to cry. Keep your chin up girl!
