I'd like to start my own business. Any suggestions?

I am having another mind-change about which direction I want my life to take. Currently, I am working on an English Education degree (because it's safe). I've always had thoughts of owning my own business, though (Most of my family members are entrepreneurs; it's only natural). I've really started to give into that idea again lately. I'd like to open up a fresh market sort of store, with fresh produce and unique food items that we don't really get in our supermarkets around here. So, what does it take to run your own business? I know, a large sum of money (loan) and the balls to take that risk, but what else? Should I major in Business management? But then, what if my business fails, I go into debt, and the only think I am certified to do is run the neighborhood KFC? Any suggestions would be lovely.
