In my country, there are so many cebration festival through out the year but in Bali there is one festival we celebrate with silence. We call it Nyepi Day or Silence day. During this day, no activities are allowed in the island. People are not allowed to go outside their home or doing activities. Everything is closed even the international airport. The whole island is quite. At night there is no lights is allowed except for hospital and hotels with only minimum lights. Can you imagine in one day there is no activities and our place is like dead city... But I like this festival. There will be a huge celebration and carnival one day before and silent on the next day. The air become so fresh, you know, because there are no cars or polution during that one day..

Last May 15, 2007 I went to the Pahiyas Festival. It's one of the most popular festivals in the Philippines where people creatively display their bountiful harvest in the facade of their houses. Homeowners compete for the best display and they are given big prizes if they win. I love this festival, because it shows the creativity and ingenuity of the Filipinos.

yes, the whole street really looks festive with all the display of bountiful harvest. This is also a way of honoring their patron saint for giving the people plenty of harvest.

We celebrate Diwali as a special festival. But I like the festival "Karthigai" that we celebrate in Tamilnadu. This festival is for Lord Muruga and that day we used to light lamps(not the electric lamp. This festival comes in the month of December, since its the winter season the lamps are lighted using gingelly oil. Gingelly oil lamp is good for the surrounding and also it controls the cool temperature some what because everyone lights lot of lamps in front and around their house. In the mean time a very big lamp using ghee is lihted in Tiruannamalai temple hill for the same purpose.

One of the floats during the parade! - Panagbenga
Wow, good to know about that one. It is my first time to hear about that festival and surprised that there is such a festival. I want to be there too to experience that one. I want to see how is the feeling of that one. For us here, we also have lots of festivals all over our country. And in our place, we have our festival called "PANAGBENGA" which means flowers in bloom. It is a great festivity wherein a lot of people coming from different places and countries flock together in the city to watch the parade. It is such a beautiful event and so many activities during the month.
