'Dead' baby awakens at her funeral

A newborn Malaysian baby was wrongfully declared still-born by doctors. They were preparing her for burial when the grandmother noticed her moving. They rushed her back to hospital where she died. The department has launched investigations into the incident. If they had not wrongly declared her dead I wonder if she would have lived? This is just so sad! http://www.bangkokpost.com/breaking_news/breakingnews.php?id=118908

That was sad. I think their may have been a good chance of survival if they would have caught this earlier. But you never know. I pray for comfort for the family. That would be awful to go through.

I feel for the family with this. To have lost the baby and then to get her back only to lose her again. That is heart wrenching on them. Hopefully the hopsital and the doctors will have to answer to them and not make that same mistake again.

This is such a sad story....it makes you wonder how the doctor diagnosed this so wrongly...I also believe that the chance of this poor baby living would have been dramatically improved without this incident.... I certainly hope that they complete an investigation....surely if the child had remained at the hospital...they would have been able to have provided a fighting chance for her. This would be extremely difficult for the family members to deal with, without the human error factor... Having worked in the medical profession, I am relly confused as to how this doctor could make such a mistake.... I feel so badly for the family...this story brought tears to my heart and my eyes.....

How can they call themselves doctors? Imagine if the baby was buried alive. I feel sorry for the parents.

Its really sad when babies die. Taken away from the world after barely entering it.

I am pretty sure the baby would have had a greater chance to live had they found it out first. HOW HORRIBLE! How did they NOT know it was alive? Cant they tell? Wow saddness. :((

I am not defending anyone or anything, but the statement that "the baby returned to life" is not clear enough. Was it muscle movement, blinking of eye, crying loud...etc..

Aw that's terrible! I can't even imagine. Can you imagine how close they were to burying her alive? yuck. :( I hope the docs get some serious inquiries/reprimands for this.

This is sad indeed. I don't have kids already, but hopefully such things won't happen to me. I wish for good hope and luck for the family...

This is completelly devastating! I just hate to hear of terrible stories of young childrens deaths. Perhaps because I have children of my own, I couldn't imagine anything bad to happen to them. I wonder what the doctors were thinking. You would think that the doctors would have enough technology to tell if a child was alive or not! Of course, who knows about Malaysian doctors though. This is such a tragic story, poor child. I pray for the family to have to suffer such a tragic loss.
