Are people buying crafts these days?

I would love to make a littel extra money by selling some of my crafts at a craft show. The way gas is going up and how the economy is getting, do you think people are still going to buy crafts or save their money for needs instead of wants?

I know what you mean about gas prices. I think first you test the market and see what product will sell. If you have the right product you can do well, it sometimes take awhile.

It does take a while. I tried once on ebay and gave up but perhaps gave up too fast but hate to pay the fees. Thanks for posting.

I this so. I have in my yard, 2 of those plastic geese...and I make clothes for them and people come to my house to admire them and they purchase them...and they are crocheted I guess if you have the right item, they will buy

I rarely buy crafts. I can do most myself if I can find the time. I do buy the stuff to do crafts with though. I have a friend who did an article on how to do well on crafts and gave a great site for help. I am not sure if it is on here or the other site. Let me look... Here is the discussion. If you are not friends with her, you might think about it. I think you two would be great mylot friends. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/897121.aspx

I think it depends on what types of crafts, how good you are at amking them, and how unique your partocular crafted items are. the market is flooded with people making certain types of crafts in certain styles so you need something unique and of quality for people to want to buy your particular items.

Unusual items are still selling in our area; folks that don't make anything at all themselves like my little purses because they are unusual. Mostly I sell spinning fiber to other spinners and my hand spun yarn to knitters. I do think that people are thinking twice about spending for extra things, but collectors and crafters will always WANT to buy something!

I think you are right if they want it bad enough they will still buy it. Thanks for posting.

I know I still buy my beads for the bracelets that I make. But I usually only buy them from Hobby Lobby when they are on sale, and usually half off.

Why not give it a try. I think people will still buy these kinds of things if they find something they like. You will never know for sure until you try to sell some of your productions. Think as positively as you can about being successful in selling your crafts. You might surprise yourself and find a great new way to make some money.
