I had a very special dog die in October of last year. And I am not ashamed to say that I still cry over him sometimes. Its very hard to loose a pet and its okay to cry even if you are an adult.

firstly Im so sorry, I cry for pets gone as well they are after all family members and my mother in law actually gets them properly cremated. Lets face it some of these animals have been with us years and most people have as many photos of there animals as there kids. We remember which christmas was which with which dogs in the photos and the same goes with houses weve lived in. After they have gone its like losing your best friend and one that didnt yell back or disrupt your life to much. My son still complains about the cat that ripped up his slippers.

Most definantly, I cried for weeks when I lost my boy to old age. I still cry on the odd occasion now when I think of him. You would have to have a heart made of stone if you did not feel anything for your pet.

of course. you'd have to be pretty weird not to cry when you lose such a good friend.

Losing a pet is just like losing a family member to me. I have cried over several.

If you mean by crying: profoundly affected, yes. Too affected even to cry. There had to pass a fortnight before the shock ceased and made way to tears. Even years afterwards, when it comes to my mind, I can't refrain from getting watery eyes. Don't think I'm the type of pet-crazy owners that humanize their cats or dogs and spoil it. It's just because of what you said: losing one of the best buddies I've had for years... :(

Absolutely and I make no apologies for it. I love my pets dearly and it hurts when they die. I have two very elderly little dogs now and I just dread the day they die. I am trying to convince myself that so long as they die at home, with lots of comfort and love it will be ok. My biggest fear is that they would get lost or run away and die frightened and alone.

I too lost my dog last September. And I still cry sometimes over her. I miss her alot. She was such a good dog. i got her when she was about one and half yr old. She was about 12 years when she passed away. But she lived a good life. I still miss her though. and I find myself missing her & cry. But I think it is natural.

Yep. I bawl like a baby. Heck, sometimes I start crying when I'm watching Animal Planet! Some of those poor pets they find on those SPCA shows break my heart! My husband thinks I'm a nut. lol I have had two dogs that I had to put to sleep for seperate reasons, but only a few months apart. I was crushed. I had had them for years and they were like my kids.

Yes I have. About 10 years ago we had a cat named molly. She was 16 years old. We found her as a stray when she was 3. Well as she got older she ended up getting tumors. We ended up having to put her down at 17. I wasnt very old at the time but I remember crying for her but knowing now shes not in pain anymore.

Oh yes, nearly every time we have had a pet to pass away I have teared up or just out and out bawled. I get as attached to our pets as my children do. SheliaLee

I love animals and I get very attatched to my pets, I am 38 years old and I still cry when I lose one of my pets. It would be hard not to for me, I choose my pets because of the way they look at me and let me know that they need a home. I either pick up strays or I adopt them from the pound. I don't know too many people that do not struggle when they lose a pet. I think it is a natural reaction, especially if you have had them for some time. I had a cat for 13 years and he was very spoiled and very much my cat. I cried for days when I had to put him to sleep! He was so old that his whole body was shutting down on him, he was not eating, drinking or going to the bathroom. My vet told me that it was the humane thing to do, even though I was not ready, my Sammy cat was.

YES! when I was 10 y.o. my first bird die and I couldn't stop crying! Of course when my dog will die I will cry, too. I didn't cried for the gold fish I don't know why maybe because I didn't want it and I wasn't really close to it...

You cry as much as you want I think that it is wonderful that you love your doggie as much as you do. When yyou want to cry you let it out.
