I am thinking of getting this for my daughters upcoming birthday and wanted to know if it was any good? It looks like it is a pretty fun game.

I played Mario Party 6 and really enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to 8 and finally got a copy of it a few weeks ago. If you are a fan of the other Mario Party games, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one as well. Some of the minigames can be tricky, but I remember ones in 6 that I couldn't figure out how to control either. I wish there were better board choices, but the ones that are included are entertaining enough. Besides the "party" mode, you can play a solo battle mode, and there are minigames that you can purchase with your credits in the game that you can play using your Miis.

I had not heard about being able to purchase the minigames. Something new to know about the game. I still have yet to buy it but do intend to. Thanks for the response.

When you play the party game, you earn star credits at the end of the game. You can then cash the star credits in on the game for more minigames, little trinkets, and even the minigames that your Miis can play.

I found it fun. I played it with the seven year old I babysit and he had no problems with the controls and really enjoyed the game. I also really loved playing, although there seemed to be a lot that you just held the Wiimote sideways. It would have been nice for there to be more than really used the movements of the Wiimote.

I thought it would be a lot of movement to and you said that there really isn't. But at least it sounded like the seven year old had fun which is around the age group I would be getting it for. Thanks.

There is for the mini games shown in the commerical and a few others, but there is also a lot of ones that you just hold the Wii sideways and tilt it or just press buttons. There is enough movement that goes on to get the kids interested. It is definitely still fun just the commercials kind of got my hopes up with there being more mini games with movement.

It really is a shame because I was so excited for this game. I love Mario Party in general, but the reviews for this game have been pretty bad. A lot of the reviewers are saying that the company just didn't do that great a job with the controls for the mini-games and that there are times when it can be quite difficult to control. I still plan to rent this game though to see if I like it. Party games can really be a lot of fun and I prefer mini-games to micro games like WarioWare has.

I had not heard that the game was getting such bad reviews. I had just found out today it was already out in stores. I will probably end up having to rent like you to test it out first. Thanks for letting me know.

I have 3 boys 9-13 who like it! They are great fans of the Mario games from gamecube as well. I haven't tried it myself, but they seem to enjoy it a lot along with the mini games.

Thank you I just have been hearing mixed reviews on this game. Either way I think I may still buy it. My kids just love the Mario Party games.

It is so much fun! We brought it on vacation with us. Fun for the whole family! If you like the other Mario Party games, this one is very similar. We really enjoy it! My son has about 5 or 6 Wii games, and this is the one he plays the most. He's 8.

That sounds like it has to be pretty fun for him to mainly play this game out of the 5 or six you have. Thanks for replying.
